Now I'm a bit concerned here, as I believe my daughter is on antidepressant/antipsychotic combination. At least I think my son as well. Paxil and the lowest dose of sequerol possible. I don't think this is odd at all. Just my opinion, from what I have read. He is doing fine, no side effects, working? another story. The sequerol is to relax him so he can sleep. Paxil, as well to release his anxieties. Not sure he is in the right dose. However, I think you will find many of our kids are on the combo of some sort. My guy is taking 25 mg. seroquel (spelling??) at nite, and 25 mg. paxil CR...I think the paxil needs to be increased, however, he didn't like it when I was splitting pills to increase the dose. As he needs a refill, I will talk to doctor about upping that dose. The doctor has never increased the seroquel....only seems to want it to help relax to sleep. Can I take some????? Just kidding!!!!! What a sad disorder. I am hanging in. I think more disturbing to me is the very long process of try and try. Good luck and best wishes to all of us. We need it! The Pam, my son is slender, not a rail, but very slender but strong. He has not gained an ounce from seroquel, and the doctor has kept the dose low. My son has told me he thinks it is helpful to relax, sleep, I hope not too relaxing. I cannot say my son has gained any weight on the paxil/seroquel combo. I am only questioning the dose of Paxil CR at 25 mg. He is 16, tall, almost 6 feet...ok, 5 " 11, and about 150 lbs., but it could be a few more. I am guessing....OK...hear me out, that if some one gains on some of these meds, it is because it is relaxing them and allowing them to eat! FEEDBACK here please. I know ONLY PERSONALLY, that when I am in distress, I cannot eat. If I am depressed, I don't eat. If I am OK, I eat. I can say thing without a doubt as for myself. Some eat when they are stressed, I cannot. I can go days. I may get a headache...but I just can't eat a thing. So, I truly would like to hear about others' opinions. Could it be that these meds are working, in ways not even noticible, but the kids are being relieved somehow and actually eating, thus the weight gain????? Thanks all, something I am truly interested in. Judith

Pam, I just don't have the energy to look through, read and comprehend. Really. I am honest. Do you mean 300 of the Paxil or Sequerol? Pam, I have always been one of those persons who did trust the doctors, because I have some great ones in my life. And I think my son's doctor is great, however, he has to consider that the OCD is the root of the anxiety and treat it as such. As we see our kids losing a year of school, well, especially in their high school years, it's beyond tough. Me, home school, NO. My guy is spending his days in his room. And it is allowed. Thus, the different therapy is necessary, and I am working my way to it...two new referrals, and will be following up. As far as his current doctor, well, my guy is very comfortable with him. I think I need to get a little more ....well, suggestive. Thanks for all your imput, because I do agree, finding the right help...a big, huge, difficult mountain to climb. In the study I pulled they are giving 300 mg for ocd. Am I assuming you are talking Seroquel? Forgive my spelling. It is a 'supplment' as best as I can describe to my guy's Paxil. I don't think the Seroquel is underprescribed, I am doubting the 25 CR Paxil. Long nite, and getting confused. Judith
