Guest guest
Jim, No such thing as an inappropriate question on this list as long as it's connected in some way to NF. After you install BioExplorer, you need to set Preferences, which you do in the BioExplorer menu. There you will open a window with several tabs across the top, including one for DVD decoders. Click that tab. You should see a list of Video decoders and another of Audio decoders. These will include any DVD playing program on your system. Find the one you usually use to play DVD's (that you know works), and select it in the top box (highlight it, then click the Select button below the box) and do the same in the bottom box. Click OK to close the window. Try again to open a file with a DVD player in it. Later versions of BE tend to work with a variety of players, so see if it works with whatever you have. However, BE is especially well tested with a couple pieces of DVD software. If you still aren't getting it to work (and I'm confident others on the list will have other suggestions)--especially with some of the fancier options, like Brightness or Size control--you may want to purchase one of these. I use Power DVD version 6.0 or higher. WinDVD, version 6 or higher, is also well tested. You can purchase and download either one on the internet, and I believe the cost is around $60. If you download one and install it on your computer, make sure to go back through the process of setting it as your preference as listed above. Pete First let me apologize if it is not appropriate to ask this questionhere, but I have not yet gotten membership approved for theBioExplorer group.I've installed and set up BioExplorer on a Sony Vaio laptop. I get the error " Failed to create player " when I try to use the DVD. I know theDVD drive works because I can play a DVD using Windows MediaPlayer 11.Do you have any idea what is causing the error? -- Van Deusen pvdtlc@...http://www.brain-trainer.com305/433-3160The Learning Curve, Inc. Guest guest
Pete, I've done all that and still get the error. My dvd plays in PowerDVD. The PowerDVD codecs are selected. Do you have any other ideas concerning what I can try next? Guest guest
Maybe could be just an error in the software, you can reinstall bioexplorer and see if the problem persist. If you have your personal folder sessions inside bioexplorer, do a copy of them. > > First let me apologize if it is not appropriate to ask this question > here, but I have not yet gotten membership approved for the > BioExplorer group. > > I've installed and set up BioExplorer on a Sony Vaio laptop. > > Pentium III 933 MHz > 512 MB RAM > WindowsXP SP2 > BioExplorer 1.3 v1.3.0.270 > PowerDVD 6.0.0.3614 CyberLink Video Decoder (PDVD7) > PowerDVD 6.1.0.3613 CyberLink Audio Decoder (PDVD7) > > I am using a design that is being used with my daughter. Guest guest
Hi Jim, I cann't recomend you the vista windows, you won't get a better performance, all the contrary. Better use the XP, you will enjoy more than vista and if you want the aero effects, there is a pluggin for XP > > > > First let me apologize if it is not appropriate to ask this question > > here, but I have not yet gotten membership approved for the > > BioExplorer group. > > > > I've installed and set up BioExplorer on a Sony Vaio laptop. > > > > Pentium III 933 MHz > > 512 MB RAM > > WindowsXP SP2 > > BioExplorer 1.3 v1.3.0.270 > > PowerDVD 6.0.0.3614 CyberLink Video Decoder (PDVD7) > > PowerDVD 6.1.0.3613 CyberLink Audio Decoder (PDVD7) > > > > I am using a design that is being used with my daughter. Guest guest
Jim, I am getting out of ideas... install the same version of PowerDVD or WinDVD your friend has. In this way you can narrow the problem. I was cheking in bioexplorer group, there are some post about the same problem, try with the search option, maybe you can get over there more ideas. > > > > > > First let me apologize if it is not appropriate to ask this > question > > > here, but I have not yet gotten membership approved for the > > > BioExplorer group. > > > > > > I've installed and set up BioExplorer on a Sony Vaio laptop. > > > > > > Pentium III 933 MHz > > > 512 MB RAM > > > WindowsXP SP2 > > > BioExplorer 1.3 v1.3.0.270 > > > PowerDVD 6.0.0.3614 CyberLink Video Decoder (PDVD7) > > > PowerDVD 6.1.0.3613 CyberLink Audio Decoder (PDVD7) > > > > > > I am using a design that is being used with my daughter.
