Guest guest
hi, well things are going ok over here. i had another migraine this morning and i am very worried about it. since the outbreak last year i havent had any but for the past 3 weeks i already had 3 migraines that i can only treat with strong pain medication...quite honestly, i hate taking it esp because i am worried about the interaction of the different meds. i have no clue why the migraines are back. i tend to believe that it is because of my hormones and endless menses. has anyone experienced problems with stills and migraines? i was also switched from prednisolone to prednisolone h. i wonder if that has anything to do with it. i just applied for a day-clinic program to deal with all the physical and related problems from the disease. wish me luck on it going through. i have so much to work on...take care, tatjana --- Boerner wrote: > Tatjana; I agree with you about taking extra > calcium, my doctors have always > stressed this a lot and say I should have at least > 1,500 mg a day with > vitamin to help absorb it into the system. Guest guest
Tatjana I just wanted to let you know that I never had a headache (a bad one) until I started MTX. I got off of it for a while, and the migraines went away....so I'm relating the two. Anyway, my doc. put me on Imitrex injections. I take a lot of meds and this doesnt react with any. It is very quick and effective, knocking the headache out in usually 20 minutes. I don't mean improving the headache, I MEAN GONE. Doesn't make you feel foggy like pain meds either. Just my experience here. Imitrex does come in pill form, but my doc said it would take 2-3 times longer to work, so I put up with the injection. Guest guest
Hi Tatjana! I have no idea if this is true but I have noticed this in myself. Have you been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia? I had a migraine about 3 years ago and it was so bad it had me in the ER. I didn't have another headache like that until recently...with my worst Fibro flare yet. Migraines have been associated with Fibromyalgia, and it could be that you are experiencing a Fibro flare???? Do you have facial pain as well? Just a thought and something you may want to explore a bit???? Guest guest
Tatjana, Yes, I have many problems with migraines since my Stills onset and I know that others have too, especially . I seldom had headaches, but frequent them often now, and some have brought me to the hospital. When I get them, the pain is un-bearable, sometimes it is difficult to even talk or move. I know that there are a lot of drugs for them now, and I guess Imitrex is the most popular. I think is on this. I wish you much luck at the day clinic and I hope that you can find some relief from both. Love. Guest guest
I have had bad headaches every day since I came down with Stills. Some days, even the drugs don't help. I have had every imaginable test for them and it has been determined that it is probably related to my illnesses. There are so many things that can cause headaches - your blood sugar levels give you a headache that makes you feel weak and dizzy, a stress headache is in the low back of your head, a sinus headache affects your face, clenching your teeth will make your head hurt on the part of your head where you would wear a crown... if you had one. Fever will make your head and eyes ache, vision disorders can make your eyes and head ache, I have Empty Cella syndrome which causes headaches. If the top of your head hurts, your liver is toxic, if the side of your head hurts, it is related to congestion in the liver, kidney and spleen. So, where does your head hurt? and how does it make you feel? I have all the ones listed above. I guess bottom line, our bodies are in such delicate balance, the sugar levels, allergies, eye stain, drugs, food, stress, pretty much anything can result in " noggin " pain. If you can pinpoint where it hurts, you can figure out what to do to help your self. Example: migraine caused by low blood sugar will not be helped at all by taking a sinus headache remedy. Let me know if I can help you figure it out, and be sure to let your doctors know. Wishing you a less painful day today, with lots of smiles. Guest guest
Tatjana; I started getting migraines a few years ago and just treated with visits when they were very bad, but two years ago I also started daily headaches and they didn't go away, sometimes after surgery or altitude changes they went into migraines. I was referred to a Neurologist and there were several things prescribed, Imitrex being one, but I don't personally care for it much. The main medication started on a daily basis was Neurontin. It takes a few weeks of increment doses to build up however much worked for me. And I do not know if this is an option for you trying to be pregnant or not, but I no longer have daily headaches and have only had one severe migrain in over a year so I consider this wonderful for me. I do hope your doctors are able to find something that will take yours away also. Good luck, Patty kate-supplements and > > prednisolon > > > > > > > hi > > > > > > how much prednisolone do you take? i am now on 5 > > mg > > > daily and still taking supplements..it is a german > > > medication called ideos and it helps to prevent > > > osteoporosis (contains vitamin d and calcium). i > > also > > > took potassium for a long time....now i am " just " > > > supposed to eat a banana every day since i am on > > such > > > a lowe dose of it. hm..i would probably speak to > > the > > > doctor about that because i have heard that > > > osteoporosis is a big deal with cortisone. i am > > only > > > on it because i cant take mtx trying to become > > > pregnant. good luck. > > > tatjana > > > > > > __________________________________________________ > > >

Guest guest
Dear Tatjana, I also get really bad Migraines and sometimes a lot of tension headaches. My Doc's feel my Migraines are Menstrual Migraines. I seem to get most of these Migraines right before my cycle or during my cycle. I have had a few at other times. My cycles tend to get worse as each year goes by. I also have Fibro so I think my Migraines may be from the Fibro. I have been lucky that the Immitrex injections usually get rid of my Migraines. I just have to make sure I don't take the injections too late. Fortunately I usually only get 1-2 a month. The most I have had is 3 in one month. I tried the Immitrex tablets and they didn't work. Unfortunately sometimes I still wait too long before giving myself a shot. When this happens I have to suffer and wait until the Migraine subsides. I have been having these Migraines now for less than a year. Have you tried the Immitrex? I know this med doesn't help everyone with Migraines but it has definitely helped me. I know how awful the Migraines can be. I hope you will be able to find a med that will work for you. I don't know how safe the Immitrex is when taking while pregnant. I wish you the best. I would be interested in knowing what med works for you and what the Doc's think are causing your Migraines. Love, jatw@...

Guest guest
More valid feeling to them than if they just basked in the success. I didn't say it makes the technique any more or less valid. It just seems that some people feel the need to 'convert' people in order to feel like they made the right choice. I have noticed it with health issues, child rearing issues, and religion among other things. Kathy J. Guest guest
Why would you even consider sending a rebuttal to every idea that an individual sends to this forum? I am thankful that you have decided not to do this to me but am wondering why the thought would even occur to you? Kathy J. Guest guest
I get migraines from sugar, alcohol, perfume and other air-borne chemicals. Also from skipping meals and getting my head cold. What I do except keeping my head warm and avoiding sugar and alcohol is to make sure to not let anything fragrant into my house and to wash myself, my clothes and especially my hair after I've been out. If I still get a migraine, I first try acupressure (with the handle of an old tooth brush). That works in mild cases. If that doesn't work, I try migraine herb-tea. And if that doesn't work, I take an injection of sumatriptan. That always works but completely knocks me out and makes me very hypersensitive for another day or two. Also very expensive and requiring a prescription. Caffeine has never cured any of my migraines except those I got from withdrawal when I didn't get my daily dose. After I quit coffee I never get that particular type of migraine again. :-) I agree with Kathy that what works for one person may not work for everyone. Each person is different. What is medicine for one, may be poison for another and vice versa. That's why I have stopped giving health advice to others, and also stopped listening to health advice from others. I can say what works for me, but that's no guarantee that it will help anyone else. I think each of us has an internal guide that will tell us what our body needs. But I see nothing wrong with just giving tips to others. Among all the useless and counterproductive advice I've been given in my life, I've also received the odd gem of wisdom that has been of tremendous help to me. As long as we leave it up to each person to check it out with their own intuition if they want to try it or not and respect it if their intuition tells them no. Inger > I get migraines related to my hormonal cycle, and also to flashing lights/certain sounds. I got a terrible migraine when I went deep sea fishing and the waves kept flashing around the boat. So I guess, bad living must include having a hormonal cycle and exposing yourself to light in erratic patterns. :-) I do not smoke or drink alcohol, or imbibe in illegal drugs. I steam my vegetables and enjoy fairly simple recipes since I am allergic to wheat (and grass pollens) so generally don't eat processed foods anyway and I still get migraines. I have had somebody try to convice me to use colloidal silver but since I have metals allergies and don't wear jewelry for that reason I think it would be dangerous to imbibe metals. Some people seem to feel the need to crusade about their particular health technique so they can somehow feel it is more valid, but I think that since each person is an individual, each person is going to have to evaluate what affect it is having on them and whether is is beneficial or harmful. Skipping meals can trigger migraine in me which combined with my body not usually signalling me that it is hungry means I must schedule my meals. Also, my reaction to stress is to feel queasy/put off food which probably doesn't help. Kathy J. Guest guest
Yes I treat health tips like junk mail. If it looks interesting to me I check it out but if it looks like something I have already explored and rejected then I don't waste time on it, or if it sounds totally uninteresting to me or like it doesn't apply to my life then I ignore it. I don't have a problem with people sharing ideas and advice. When I offer ideas I don't expect the other person to 'have' to try it. I do start to get annoyed if somebody keeps pressing me (like the colloidal silver lady, who is not on this group by the way so please anybody on the group do not assume I am talking about you.) after I have already declined. Every time I bump into this person at the post office she starts in about how I don't look so good and maybe that would help. She is the only one telling me I don't look so good and it makes me suspicious that she is 'willing to sell me some colloidal silver'.
