Baking soda and vinegar can be very harsh on some peoples hair. If you

are at all interested in keeping your hair, then you might like to look

at natural shampoo bars, or sls free shampoos. I make and sell an

excellent shampoo bar that works for my hair and my family. Only

occasionally do we need a vinegar rinse. This clarifies the hair.

As to them leaving the hair looking oily. This has more to do with water

quality than the soap. Sometimes water will really effect the way

natural soaps work on the skin, in the bath or on the hair. Some

experimenting is always necessary until you find what works for you. ~

with apple cider vinegar (1/2 T. in a cup of water). I don't rinse with water

after this but some do.it works great!! google no poo for more info.

>> Ok, you guys had great recommendations on deodorant. We like the Waleda for

natural deodorant, and I'm going to try a couple of others as well.

>> Shampoos....salon brands are outrageously expensive....but definitely do

clean better than the cheaper store brands (not to mention all their bad

ingredients...one uses an ingredient comparable to " floor wax " to produce

shine...ugggh!). I would like to try some natural shampoos/conditioners. I'm

spending a lot of time reading reviews on the catlog sites I shop, and felt like

I could get better answers from you guys, especially if I can specify family

" hair types " .

>> Many of the " natural " shampoos suggest they are " volumizing " . This would

work for me, and one of my daughters. Both of us have totally straight, baby

fine hair. However the other two girls have very thick hair. My oldest

daughter has very thick hair that is also very curly, and will tend to frizz.

She has recently had some highlighting done, so a product that will not cause

problems because of that would be helpful. I'm guessing to cut the frizz a

shampoo touted as " moisturizing " would be good...but the one I found...had some

complaints about it leaving the hair looking oily.
