Guest guest
It's great that everything was alright! Have a good day! e Eye update. I just got back from the eye doctor. After the exam he told me that everything looks good: The vascular structure is good, no plaques or rough patches, no tears in the retina, no sign of any trauma or bleeding or anything and the laser surgery that I had had done 13 years ago had healed very well. He thinks that given that I have no damage and no risk factors that most likely what happened was a precursor to a migraine that never fully manifested. That makes sense since I do get 2 or 3 migraines each year but I get the precursors much more often than that. The usual things are halos around objects, flashes of light and things like that. Do this was most likely one of those events that just didn't make it all the way to a migraine. They also said that my perscription for my glasses has not changed in 7 years. The pressures in the eye are also very low and lower than they were 7 years ago, which is a good thing since high pressure increases the risk of glacoma. However, because of my nearsightedness, the doctor suggested that I come back every year for an eye exam to check the retina for tears and such. So, I am going to do that every year before I go to Alabama in the spring for the reunion. That way if there is a problem they can catch it before I am a long way from home. Uh, I think if that is the case (i.e., the halos are vascular effects) they *are* migraines. Fortunately not followed by the headache which results from subsequent dilation of the blood vessels which means they're no big deal. Also fortunately, if you eventually do get migraine headaches, the " events " , also known as " migraine auras " , will give you time to take an antimigraine drug and prevent the headache. (If so, try to reduce dosages each susequent instance by breaking the pills.) Anyhow, glad everything went well. - s

Guest guest
Dwight, Thanks for the info. Actually I had been drinking more soft drinks over those few days that usual, so that could have been a part of it, as well as having to eat higher fat food. My vision is still fine, though the muscle on top of the right eye has been a little wore and I'm having occasional spasm in the eye lid. I've had this before a few times, but I can't recall what might have brought it on. However, since I have had this before and it has cleared up in a few days, I'm not overly concerned about it. If it lasts more than a week I'll go back and have it looked at, but I don't expect that it will last that long.

Guest guest
Dear , Good morning! Have you researched the Dr. Feingold web site http://www.feingold.org and all of the dramatic discoveries he has found about how food allergies can cause severe headaches? You can stop eating white sugar for three days and initially have awful headaches for a couple of days after you stop feeding yourself this " white poision " ! Also, you can stop drinking anything that has caffeine in it (that bitter alkaloid C8H10N4O2 found especially in coffee, tea, and kola nuts) and you'll have those same headaches for about the same length of time, under the same circumstances. High blood presure (teenagers can have it) can give you awfully bad headaches too. If you eat foods that contain large amounts of animal fat, it will be very easy for you to have high blood pressure. A famous heart doctor in New York immediately puts his patients on a diet consisting of only vegetables and fruits, with no meats or dairy products allowed at all, when they come to visit him and complain of high blood pressure. I have experienced these recurrent severe headaches that you refer to in your letter. But since I became a strict vegetarian (one who consumes no animal food or dairy products) about 5 years ago, I have had no problems with headaches since then. This regimen may help you with this physical suffering and vexation. God Bless! Dwight > -S > > I don't take any particular migraine medicines. Guest guest
A very impressive recitation on sucrose. I'd be interested to know your sources of information, or whether you assembled this picture yourself. I guess it's good news then that many sweetened products are using high fructose corn syrup these days. Is that so? Ken > > Dwight, > > > > Thanks for the info. Guest guest
It's all personl but I have studied nutrition for more than 20 years. I would like to see the lives of others improved by way of healthy eating habits or by any other means possible to make their lives more enjoyable. My mother was a professional nutritionist and my sister still is one. It would be a pleasure to discuss this with you. I will go on yahoo messenger with the screen name " jllilli " (without the quotation marks) if this is suitable to you. It's 8:52 P.M. Eastern Standard Time here. I'll be waiting for you for a couple of hours. I like to keep as many tasks as possible inactive on my computer so that my RAM will be used for immediate activities. If I don't see you after a few hours, I'll want to shut down the Yahoo Messenger. But, Yes, I would like to communicate more with you on this research.
