Guest guest
I just finished watching a most inspiring movie, based on a true story, called Lorenzo's Oil. I would have loved if it were a story based on mb success, but it truly doesn't matter. It's the story of a family where their 5 y.o. son is diagnosed with ALD and the doctor informs the parents it's a rare disease, there is no cure, and the prognosis is terrible suffering and death not long after the diagnosis. And the story continues with the great courage and conviction of the parents to do everything they can, INCLUDING battling the doctors and even battling a support group who feel it's not their place to tell doctors what their "job" is - the father says over and over again, I am just a simple mind but I want to understand what is going on - and both the parents are warriors in this battle for their son - of course it's not just a simple story, with magic bullets - there are uphill battles, good news and then bad - but they continued to fight and now so so so many other children do not have to die because of the courage of this couple to keep looking for a way to deal with the disease and even improve their son's condition. The end of the story in the movie was in 1992 - I don't know the particulars as of today, but again that isn't the point. It's the inspiration, doctors are NOT gods, people who are seriously ill do NOT have to give up, even us simple people can do research, can do battle, and can win. For all on these lists who are suffering, have courage and I pray for all who are ill to have advocates as wonderful as these two parents were. Klara Everyone is raving about the all-new Yahoo!
