Guest guest
Hi I only had 2 ultrasounds in all my pregnancies and they were in Portugal. In order for me to have a home birth, the doctor required them. I chose not to have ultrasounds during most of my pregnancies because I didn't feel they were necessary and I would rather not do something for the sake of it - if that makes sense. I think it is really up to the individual - if it makes you feel more secure to have one, then go ahead but I would suggest that you avoid having them on a regular basis. Vibration is vibration and everything does have an effect on the baby - not saying dangerous but an effect. Blessings Ultrasounds > > > >I have a question. Guest guest
HI , my mother was once saying how strange it is that people have them now routinely and they have the DVD etc! sure it is nice to see but as melanie said these sound waves are powerful and have an effect. they do not emit radiation like an x-ray - it is all done with sound waves but sound is powerful we have a cleaner for vegetables which uses sound waves and it cleans by using sound to explode the dirt. the sonicare toothbrush works the same. when the cleaner is on high and there is no lid on it it feels painful to me - although nothing is touching me. However if a medical test has to be done i always choose ultrasound. It is the least invasive but everything has an effect - the bigger the front the bigger the back as it is said in Macrobtiotics! there was an article in wellbeing magazine a few years ago linking ultrasound to something or other but i think this is just one factor. If is it is needed go for it and if not maybe think about it.... wrote: Hi I only had 2 ultrasounds in all my pregnancies and they were in Portugal. Guest guest
, You have had a lot of good advice on the ultrasound, so I just wanted to share my experience. I've had one hospital birth, two homebirths. My first two both had the intense ultrasound (30 minutes, measurements, down syndrome check, etc.). The first was required by my OB. My second child, I chose to do it since I had insurance that covered it and I felt, at the time, that it would ease any worries. My 3rd was conceived shortly after an ectopic pregnancy and emergency surgery (less than 3 weeks after the operation). I had a quickie vaginal ultrasound with her, again, by my choice, to make sure it was a viable pregnancy and where it should be in the womb, not the tubes. I have three healthy, happy, very normal children. I would not have opted for the ultrasound on my daughter if the circumstances had been different. With my second, I had valid concerns and the ultrasound put them to rest. I strongly feel that the peace of mind that ultrasound gave me was worth it. I think worry and stress are unhealthy during a pregnancy. Follow your heart, it will all be allright, hon. And for goodness sakes, give yourself a hug about the eating discrepancies and move on. Your wee babe will be perfectly fine. Look how many children are born to meat-eating, trans-fat scarfing ruffians ;-) <though I do understand your concerns, don't take my joking as flippant> xoxo... Guest guest
I'm around...trying valiantly to keep up with the amazing flurry of emails since Christmas Eve! I love it when this group is hoppin It was a mad frenzy of sewing around here before the holidays hit. I'm now looking foward to a quiet January full of peaceful fires, bubbly soups, books (reading by myself and to the littles) and handwork (I'm teaching myself embroidery, ha!) xoxo... Guest guest
Well, I'll post pics in my blog if they are good embroideries, lol. The littles are doing well. I still can't believe I have a 12 yo! Finn is, of course, still a spitfire. Are you homeschooling Marlie? I'm grappling with the decision to homeschool Finn or start kinder next year. The boys love school and I know Finn would be in her element. I'm very happy with our elementary and the teachers...I just have never had a child that young away from me :-} 5 seems so little, you know? Tough decisions. xoxo... Guest guest
I'm sure there will be some! Finn......... when are Marlie and Finn going to meet? Yes homeschooling Marlie. People always ask if I'll do it all the way through or how long I plan on doing it, etc. I always say as long as it works for both of us. You can always put Finn in and if it doesn't work take her out. I can't imagine Marlie going off to school all day, either can she for that matter. When anyone asks she grabs onto my leg and says " my Ima is homeschooling me " . Too cute. G'nite! Hugs and love for the new year. Guest guest
, There are many good homeschooling resources on the Internet. Having received a little bit of home schooling from both foster care and my parents (my mother [who I did not live with] gave me a copy of Summerhill in the early 1960s), and attended a live-in private school for two years (where I grew 18 inches and went from being a D and Fail student to becoming a A & B student), I truly believe that young people can benefit from either a variety of learning situations or at least a regular amount of non-conventional ones. While attending a public high school in the late 1960s, I happened upon a free school tucked away in Topanga Canyon (Los Angeles) and was amazed how the kids were going about their learning, there! Thank you, very much. Bruce Paine seigman wrote: Well, I'll post pics in my blog if they are good embroideries, lol. The littles are doing well. I still can't believe I have a 12 yo! The boys love school and I know Finn would be in her element. I'm very happy with our elementary and the teachers...I just have never had a child that young away from me :-} 5 seems so little, you know? Tough decisions. xoxo... Guest guest
Yes, Bruce, I know. I've been a homeschooler for 7 years. Re: Ultrasounds>>>>>> > nice advice. Where have you been anyway????????????????????>>>>>
Guest guest
Thank you for your advice. It was a great help. I'm going to go ahead and do it. Is there a cleanse I should do afterwards? How does the vibrations effect/affect the baby, and why?? My first two both had the intense ultrasound (30 minutes, measurements, down syndrome check, etc.). The first was required by my OB. My second child, I chose to do it since I had insurance that covered it and I felt, at the time, that it would ease any worries. My 3rd was conceived shortly after an ectopic pregnancy and emergency surgery (less than 3 weeks after the operation). I had a quickie vaginal ultrasound with her, again, by my choice, to make sure it was a viable pregnancy and where it should be in the womb, not the tubes.I have three healthy, happy, very normal children.I would not have opted for the ultrasound on my daughter if the circumstances had been different. With my second, I had valid concerns and the ultrasound put them to rest. I strongly feel that the peace of mind that ultrasound gave me was worth it. I think worry and stress are unhealthy during a pregnancy.Follow your heart, it will all be allright, hon.And for goodness sakes, give yourself a hug about the eating discrepancies and move on. Guest guest
I'm feeling great. The only thing bugging me is that I haven't had much of an appetite lately. Lots of kicking! So much so I think this one is trying to get out already!! :-) From: VeganMacrobiotics [mailto:VeganMacrobiotics ] On Behalf Of Klara LeVineSent: December 31, 2006 11:15 PMTo: VeganMacrobiotics Subject: RE: Ultrasounds I KNEW our site wasn't the only one you could find solace and info on - started me thinking there must be other alternative mothering kind of sites which also support natural ways of dealing with pregnancy. Anyway, loved the pix below - funny, during pregnancy is a time when I did soooooooooo much research and reading - wonder why I didn't do that before getting married???? :>) so how you feeling? more kicks??
