Hey Tim - this is what I got from Apractis:I wanted to let you all know that I talked with the senior support management for Onebox and in fact they have been aware that over the past 2 weeks there was an increase in the number of faxes that were coming through in a distorted fashion. This is not an UpDox application or web site issue specifically, but the Onebox folks are aggressively looking into this technically and I would expect, based on prior experience, they will get it taken care of soon. Again, I always use these things as opportunities to begin working with those in your community to see if we can help to have them begin emailing you securely rather than faxing, but fax is still a reality!! So I will send out an update as soon as I hear anything. This is a sporadic and intermittent issue, but we make sure that our partners take it just as seriously, and they do. Sincerely Andy Barbash, MD CEO Apractis SolutionsAnyone else having some problems with receiving faxes through OneBox?That is the same company as Apractis, so same question there.I get many faxes where some lines are skipped or smooshed up. Often I thenhave to get the lab result again from the lab. There was no improvementwhen I updated my Adobe acrobat.Onebox says they are aware of such a problem and are "working with Intel"to try to find the solution ... why they'd be working with Intel I'm notsure... but I'm no tech geek and thought Intel just made the chips, etc. And the problem has been there for months, so I wonder if they'll ever fixit.Anyone out there also having the problem?Or other problems with onebox?... overall I like onebox, but this, plustheir less-than-cheerful cust service, don't turn me on.Tim

Tim- I had the same kind of problem with receiving faxes and scanning in

when I first got my Brother all in one set up. Distortion of lines, a few

squashed together and unreadable? Just in specific parts of a report. The

interesting thing was, if you printed out the report, or you moved it to

another application, you could read it just fine- the distortion went away.

Some of those reports, if I imported them into AC, they then would look

fine. If you manipulated the report in some way, the distortion moved around

or disappeared. Never really could pin down where it came from- switched

from TWAIN to WIA for scanning, that seemed to help the scanning issue, but

not really? It may be something native to your setup, maybe not just

apractis. Maybe this will help you at least be able to access the

information in the reports.

Tim, I have the same problem and talked with Andy Barbash and he notes they are trying to fix it. I talked with my local hospital and they can not send via email secure labs but they did give me a passcode to access all the labs I order from a web portal. I then scan it via the apractis printer to my updox message center and file it to the patient's chart. Really just as easy, plus it allows me to know I will get a "lab value"--when I look through my fax box on updox it is always a mystery as to what will pop up--labs, pharmacy faxes, insurance faxes, etc. This week about every 3rd fax was jumbled up, prior it was about every 10. Seems to happen to the faxes from the hospitals here. Mike

onebox/apractis fax hassles?

Thanks - great points from everyone. It's good to know it's not just me...

though perhaps part of it is.

Yeah, mostly the bad faxes are from hospitals ... but they fax more to me

than anyone else, so I wonder if my perception has a sampling error. The

frequency has increased recently, but I've had it a bit for months.

I'm not sure how to " adjust " my settings. I simply open the fax (pdf file)

with Adobe Acrobat 7.0 and print if I want or place directly into my

patient file tree. I guess I'll check my Adobe program and see what I can

fiddle with (is " fiddle " an officially recoginized IT word? ;-)

Hopefully Andy Barbash and gang will get it fixed soon. I'd rather just

have the one system to get my faxed labs/reports rather than do the extra

steps of getting into the portals. But I guess I will have to take some

time and get those portals up and running sooner rather than later -- I'm

lucky enough that >95% of my patients use two out of the three local

hospital systems.
