My

financial situation will have to improve some before I can take an additional

trip out of town (the Assembly was my my one and only

“time off” this year except for one day off to lobby for tort

reform in the state Capitol (but I saw patients that night after I got back to

town) and a 48 hour run to look at a practice opportunity in another state)

BUT, I have never been to Colorado, and if you wait until next year I maybe would be able to afford

it….and I love to ski (mostly I lie on my back in the snow and look at

the sky, but I have a great time doing it)

SO if you plan it, I will (try to) come…

IMP meeting

I think it is fair to say that all who attended the IMP

gatherings in DC thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie, were mentally stimulated

by learning what others do and how to adapt things to suit their practice, and

got the brain snapping with ideas on how to help others ‘find the

light’. I found myself craving more time together with this awesome

group.

I would love to have us gather again, but specifically for

IMPing, and not trying to cram it in during another event (and thus shortchange

our time together).’ It could be a learning and planning

session. Learn more about IMP stuff, and help get the word out there

about what we are doing.

If people are interested, I would be happy to help host this

in Colorado – centrally located, beautiful place,

etc. I was thinking we could meet during ‘off season’ to keep

lodging rates down. Or, we could meet during ski season, if that is

preferable. I’m between Colorado Springs (great place)

and Summit County (read mountains), and would

be happy to work on this.

I think it’s a great idea, but

finances are a little tight so I hate to commit now. If others agree that this

is something that should be done, I will do my best to make it out there! I

remain hopeful that we can get a pilot project off the ground (see IMP1 agenda)

as that would help out immensely. By the way, I have always longed to see Colorado and the Rockies. The thought of hanging with the IMPs in

the middle of awe inspiring beauty…I don’t think it could get

better than that!

Since I couldn't attend DC due to family restraints I would like very much to meet with the IMP's. I would definitely try to make it, especially if it is

in the " off-season " (summer).

Dear ,

I would like to second your suggestion of an interim IMP meeting.

Though RJ and I are out of the insurance/billing business loop that

tends predominates the listserv, there are still a TON of issues

that we share in common. Many have solved these problems in unique

and translatable ways.

I would love to come to Colorado. But I also really like '

suggestion of Las Vegas as an even more accessible and a reasonably

inexpensive option.

I would be particularly interested in a meeting with a format

(similar to the IMP Convocation) but expanded to allow 15 minute

presentations each of the established practices who would briefly

highlight their practice journey and then in greater depth describe

one or two problems that they feel they have solved particularly

well (i.e. you could describe your physical workflow, Judy could

describe her chronic disease management registry, Brady could

describe including his local community, we could describe

our " alternative funding model " ).

The presentations could be grouped around single topics (EMR,

billing/insurance, finances, database/website, supplies, community,

etc.) Each topic might last a couple of hours. We could probably

cover six major areas over Sat am, Sat pm and Sun am and have enough

time to hear from all the IMP's in attendance.

Perhaps Gordon would introduce each topic by providing an overview

of the pitfalls/experience of others, any findings from the

literature. Then 2-4 practices would present their story. We would

close each topic with a moderated discussion on that single topic

for 20-30 minutes with the entire group.

I know this is a rather detailed description, but it is just a

brainstorming proposal for someone else to grapple with and improve.

It would take some coordination of the topics and presntation (...

Gordon?). I think you have a great idea!

I think the idea of a meeting is a great one. I like the rough ideas

that Bob has outlined. Because we live in WIsconsin, Anywhere is fine

for us. I am new to all this but would be willing to help with any

logistics/legwork.

Hey folks, as much as I’d like it to

be in Las Vegas because it’s so close to me, it’s no longer the

hotel bargain spot that it used to be, at least if we’re talking about a

weekend at a nice hotel on the strip. Being familiar with the city I’m

happy to look into it when we have some particular dates in mind. I’m

also happy to look into San Diego/Orange County/Long Beach/Los Angeles if there’s

any thought of going a bit further west than Las Vegas.

Thanks for

the responses.

Bob’s

idea is great, but I’d also like this gathering to be a venue for other

things. The brainstorming during our Fri am meeting in DC was

great. I’d like to have more time for that, to flesh out our plans

for presenting info @ the 2007 AAFP SA (maybe doing our presentations in front

of the group for practice and feedback) and the same for submitting articles to

FPM, and whatever else we come up with. Hopefully we will have some of the

articles already submitted, but I could see us doing an article a month, a

series on IMP stuff. I would think a long weekend (Fri afternoon thru Sun am)

would work.

I want to

keep the cost down. I wish I had a huge house to host a slumber party,

but I’m not a surgeon ;). I’m happy to work on organizing

this here in Colorado,

but I’m not familiar w Vegas – never been there, but I understand

it’s cheap to get there and lodging is also inexpensive. If

that’s were we go, great, but someone else will need to help orchestrate

it. If we come to Colorado,

I can look into staying in Breckenridge off season (late May, early June

usually), or in Colorado Springs/Woodland Park – either in a hotel,

B & B, even in homes if people are willing to (mine, my in-laws, pts, etc),

or a combo. I’d be willing to prepare meals for us, too. Being in

the mountains and all, we could call it the ‘IMP Summit’

;)

Sounds great – what are the location/date

options, and how many units could we get (if it is limited to just 1 or 2, may

not be enough if we can’t get more in the same area/time)

My MIL has time share credits that I suspect we could

use if we pitched in to cover the $100/week per unit maintanence fee. Most

units have 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
