Newbie here, saying hello

Hi everyone,

I'm new here, so I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Jenn, mom of 2

great girls (6 and 4-1/2). We're in the Brooklyn Park area, not too far

off the beaten path. We are lucky to have a 24 ft square chunk of sandy

soil carved out for a garden, but last year (our first in this house)

only managed to feed the deer and rabbits.

I've had some health issues creep up on me these last few years, and

decided to find my way back to real food and get my body back on track.

I started seeing a great holistic MD about six months ago, and there's

been some good improvement.

I wish I could say my husband was on board with this. He's not, totally.

After watching Food, Inc. he did concede to grass-fed meats, poultry,

and eggs. I do the shopping and fix (or tell him how to fix) our meals,

so he's along for the ride. My kids pretty much eat what I make, as much

as different tastes and kid-finickiness allow. I'll keep putting it out

there. I have a feeling they'll like it over time. After all, how many

little girls eat artichokes? Mine do! Hee.

I've been reading the past posts, and have already gotten so much great

information, so thanks for that!

I intend to watch that YouTube video on making your own sauerkraut -- I

tried it once and had to throw it in the compost. Yuck! Obviously did

something wrong!

On the plus side, I am now making my own lacto-fermented mayo, with

so-so success. Will probably do another batch this weekend.

I'm taking the Kombucha 101 class tonight @ the Wedge. If I can manage

that, it will be a big help. I've been buying bottles in the store, and

even nursing one bottle for 3 days, the cost adds up!

I'll probably think of 1000 things more to tell you, and I could go on

and on, but if you're still reading, I'd be amazed... ;-)
