I've started googling info on 32 oz or larger freezer grade glass jars (canning

jars?). Anybody know a good source were I can buy a case or two (12 per or 6 per

case?).

It is much cheaper to buy canning jars locally rather than pay shipping charges.

I get my jars at garage sales (although people aren't selling them like they

used to), grocery stores (Coborns has been wonderful) and the old fashioned

hardware stores like TruValue. They come in half pint, pint, quart and half

gallon sizes. I love the half gallon sizes but the stores rarely stock them so

you have to ask the manager to add your request to his next canning jar order.

I've also gotten jars at Walmart and never found them at Target. Now is the

time of year to stock up on jars and canning lids.

Canning jars are one of those things that are easier to find in the rural areas

than in the cities.
