Guest guest
carries Dentie. It is made from charred eggplant and works very well not only for cleaning the teeth but for any tooth or gum pain and sensitivities. One package will last a very long time. The sea salt toothpaste's main ingredient for actual cleaning of the teeth is baking soda. People used baking soda for a long time before commercial toothpastes took over. It's my tooth whitener of chose as well. I also have an ionic toothbrush that lifts the plaque right off the teeth so essentially you would not really need a paste but I like the mouth refreshing quality of using something on my toothbrush. You may notice too that as your body cleans out from eating a whole foods diet that you just do not create as much plaque. Guest guest
Holly and friends, I highly recommend before asking questions in the groups, that you Google the subject. For instance...Dentie If your Internet browser does not have a handy and integrated search engine, then you might consider adding Firefox to your browser stable, as it has Google as it's first search engine (in the upper right corner!). Pretty neat, huh? Anyway, the first item on Dentie Toothpowder is at Simply Natural: "Traditionally, the Japanese, like many other cultures, used vegetable and mineral^ powders to look after their teeth. Mitoku Dentie Powder is a 100% natural toothpowder made from charred eggplant and sea salt only. Use a pinch on your toothbrush regularly to keep your mouth feeling super clean and fresh, while reducing tarter build-up. It also stimulates good circulation in the gums, maintaining optimal dental health. This magical powder is excellent for serious tooth problems and promotes a healthy alkaline condition in the mouth. Can also be used on bee stings and to stop the bleeding of minor cuts. A handy remedy to have in your medicine cabinet. Mitoku Dentie Toothpaste brings you the refreshing taste, the cleansing qualities and distinctive black color of Dentie in a new convenient form, with delicious natural peppermint flavor. Unlike most commercial toothpaste, Dentie does not contain artificial sweeteners, fluoride, coloring agents, flavorings or preservatives. Ingredients: Japanese charred eggplant and sea salt." Guest guest
Nice description and I especially like when ppl plug 's company. I had my teeth cleaned last week and the hygienist told me we should clean our teeth no more than once a month with baking soda. She said it's a good cleaner but strips some stuff from our teeth and it's bad for the teeth if done more often. I wish I remembered exactly what she said so this wouldn't sound so stupid. Guest guest
reggie, Not stupid! I used Google (I use Google a lot, often because it helps me remember stuff that I've forgotten and not just learn new stuff!) to look up baking soda, teeth cleaning It seems that baking soda is somewhat abrasive and though most people think it is safe to brush with everyday, some people think that it can cause damage, if done too often, especially to the gum line. Arm and Hammer says that it is safe to use. How about giving your hygienist a call, to be on the safe side? Thank you, very much. Guest guest
ahh, the power of google, yes...with all the talk re: apple computers lately, do you think you can download mozilla to a mac system? I remember I tried to download internet explorer so I could make my buying club order, and I was prompted to buy Windows first. Not a complaint about using Safari, however. I think I'm sold on the dentie, can't wait to try it! giggling a bit thinking about the image of blackened teeth...I wonder if it would quell Ari's curiousity about toothpaste? otoh, it might send him off the idea for life, lol! and I must make time to browse gary's site, it's all there!!! many thanks, Holly > > > > I was reading about using sea salt or dentie for toothpaste, but have > > never > > heard of dentie before...anyone? > > > > I am always keen to cut down on dependence on packaged goods, but is > > there some way to transition to just sea salt? we've been using 's > > sea salt paste for a few years, I think some sort of " paste " might be > > better for > > us while we transition. would i be able to make a base of say sea salt > > and > > bancha tea and thicken it up with agar agar or kuzu? hard to believe I'd > > be heading into " no man's land " here, hehe... > > > > jus' musing out loud, > > Holly > > > > >

Guest guest
It is VERY YANG - read carefully how it mentions to use only a tiny bit - one of my teachers had said NOT to use it all the time, but now I can't remember what she said to use instead. Paste is ok but more expensive. Interesting that they've added some kind of peppermint - which is quite yin - balance????????, bit of a teeter/totter - then again, wonder if it's effect isn't that strong, how much can get inside the body from just brushing your teeth?? Also baking yangizes the yin of the eggplant - what am I saying, not baking, charring!!!! quite yangizing. Hope I'm not confusing any newbies - in short, certainly refreshing to use, and I'd rather use that than baking soda, which I also hardly use in my baking - but I will use in cleaning my pots of any stubborn stains (not my cooking, other's). Not sure if it was on this site, but quite a while ago Ilanit had written up loads of info on dentie - I'm guessing it could be found on her site.
