,

This post hit a big nerve with me.

Right on, Sistah :-)

I spent last weekend in the hospital with pancreatitis, induced by a medical

test. If that wasn't bad enough, the first thing they offered me by way of

" food " (using the term loosely) was lemon jello (sugar, artificial everything),

beef broth (msg perhaps, I bet it was in there), decaf coffee (just what

everyone with a horrible case of nausea wants, right?, and Italian Ice, (more

sugar and more chemical additives).

2 days later when I was holding that trash down, they offered me as a step-up to

" normal food " , a hamburger and some fries. Good golly, what nutritional

ignorance. I sent my DH down to Tim Horton's on the corner to get me a whole

grain bagel at least.

And the nerve of those nurses, they refused to let us put my KT in the IV

bag!!!!

j/k ;-D

This is a lie. No one has died from drinking kombucha, and it's believed

that no one has ever gotten sick either. So it's not like, oh well, only

2 people have died so I guess the risks are reasonable. NO ONE HAS

DIED. The risk is solely of increased health and well-being.

[warning: begin soapbox]

The perpetuation of the myth that people have died is just part of the

demonization of kombucha, part of the ongoing campaign against alternative

health practices because they can't be controlled and profited from by the

medical-industrial complex.

In case people haven't noticed, Western Medicine is not really about

preventing disease, it's about holding people hostage and enslaving them to

the system. Not to say that very important and good things don't happen in

Western medicine, of course they do, and I have benefited thereby,

myself. But Western MEdicine does not do preventative medicine or holistic

health support, and whatever it does do well, it doesn't admit what it

doesn't do well. It does not admit its limitations.

And, it doesn't admit that industrialization is poisoning humans and is the

cause of much suffering. For instance, the American Cancer Society

continues to say that breast cancer is a disease that cannot be prevented,

yet we frequently hear about new aspects of industrialized society that

cause it. In fact, the American Cancer Society says the only thing proved

to cause cancer is radiation. This is where the need for " proof " becomes

absurd, with the profiteers defining " proof " ever more finely so that they

are never required to do anything about it.

Hospitals host fast-food joints like Mac's, and serve Coke to

desperately ill patients in their beds. To me that is indicative of the

serious problems with Western Medicine.

My point being, people need to learn to sharply question the " research "

showing KT to be unhealthy. Any such " research " serves an agenda and has

nothing to do with the actual effects of KT. To step outside the Western

Medical box requires one to think for oneself and validate alternatives for

oneself. Not an easy task in a world in which individuals are

systematically robbed of their own truth and self-validation, but a

necessary task.

[end soapbox]

Many people drink a quart every day, others drink even more, and some drink

a lot less. I find the amount I drink varies according to desire and

supply, but I like a quart a day in general.
