Guest guest
I liked Lee's suggestion from a book to write down 10 items (under $20) that make you feel luxurious. Many of us talk about BFL giving us more confidence and learning to like bodies again. So...maybe feeling luxurious is a way to stay on track? 12 weeks, 10 small rewards where the rewards make you feel good? Of course, that's $200, but maybe I don't get a reward every week. Anyhow, here's my list of (at least) 10 items (under $20) that make me feel luxurious and don't involve eating: - Pedicure - A hot wax manicure - A bubble bath, with candles and wine. - A Sunday at the barn (our usual day off) to ride bareback, groom, and just play with my horse--with no training agenda. Just fun. - An entire day with uninterrupted hours to read good fiction. The only demands on me are to change chairs or get up to get some water. - Sitting at a coffee house reading or writing with no particular place to go. - Doing a beauty treatment--deep conditioning my hair, at-home facial, etc. - Having tea with my lady friends--although that usually costs more than $20 and includes food--but on a free day it would be ok. - Hot tubs. Preferably with friends. - Working really hard all day, and then at the end of the day, knowing I've accomplished <whatever> and can spend the evening relaxing. Something like painting a room, finishing some software, finishing a choreography, etc. The key is: finishing it. Hmmm...it amuses me that most of my inexpensive pleasures involve quiet time alone. Maybe I need to learn something from this? I also found it really hard to think of things that didn't involve consuming something--either by buying myself presents or eating. Fun exercise. Highly recommend it. --
Guest guest
Good point. I know that a lot of us have been rewarded with food in the past. It can be a problem if it is too frequent. I like your list.
