BTW there are lots of folks renovating houses this time of year, and the contractors just toss out the old windows, which are great for cold frames etc. I've also read that at one point people had " straw boxes " which were lined with straw, and hot rocks were put in the bottom, then the pot of whatever it was they wanted to cook. I suspect that one could make a box within a box, lined with straw (or fiberglass or whatever insulation comes to hand), and set a warm pot of milk in it, and it would stay hot enough for the time it takes to make yogurt. (I'm not a yogurt expert though, I'm still into kefir, the lazy side of me comes to the fore!). -- Heidi
