Check the herb/plant called Epizote. I think it can be added to a

dish to reduce or prevent gas.

Thanks Darrell. I'll see if I can find it here in Australia. Had a quick look

on the net. I'm assuming it's the same as " Epazote " (both spellings came up).

Found this description:

" Epazote (pronounced ep-a-ZO-tee) is Chenopodium ambrodioides, commonly known as

Wormweed or Mexican Tea. It's used a lot in Mexican dishes, especially those

with beans, but is also good in chicken, corn, cheese and mushroom dishes. It

has a taste approximately like mint and it smells like turpentine (definitely an

acquired taste). Only the leaves are used - the seeds are toxic. "

" A pungent herb with a strong flavour, used in Mexican cooking "

Some beans are more gassy than others. Epazote is supposed

to help (it's an herb you add to the beans when you cook them).

I add Mexican oregano, which seems to help. But I'm also

told that the best solution is: start eating beans more!

After awhile your digestion adapts. Anyway, we don't get

gas from beans anymore (I still do from raw cabbage though!).
