Guest guest
I just watched The Secret DVD www.thesecret.tv I know some of you here have seen it - because you were telling me how good it was and to watch it. I even heard that it was shown in a class in a local naturopathic college. And was partly made here in melbourne or the production or some connection with here! I had actually seen the very exciting trailer ages ago. And had been anticipating it but now it seems to have reachd that critical mass and everyone is talking about it. sure, most people kinda know what it is talking about but it is the WAY it is presented that made me see it all in a new light and also where i am tying myself in knots. It really is worth a look and will probably throw a new perception on the places where things arent flowing. I know that is has for me - even though i did switch it on with the thought of - I dont think this is going to tell me anything i dont know or show me anything useful! A very symptom of the problem and where i had been miscreating things, dont you think?! anyway if you have seen it what did you think and if you haven't find a copy.... Guest guest
I just visited the website, and I am a little intrigued and a little skeptical. Just what is the "secret" that they are talking about? I understand that it has something to do with a happy and healthy life, but I am a bit uneasy about purchasing a DVD that claims to hold the secret to the universe in it. Also, I just got a copy of "What the Bleep" from my Reiki master and I'm interested to watch that. Has anybody else here seen it? Guest guest
Yes. What the Bleep Do We Know is very worth seeing – about modern physics, enlightenment, happiness, creating your life, the mind, and the bodymind.... Worth more than one viewing. I like the physicist who looks like a gnome! Also Ramtha is in it, the woman who channels that entity, lives in Oregon I believe; and many scientists. Marlee Matlin stars, sort of. W. Guest guest
Hi Klara, I agree with everything you say and have written about it a few times in the macrobiotic guide. It is kind of perverse that out of a movement that was built on being humble, open, appreciative, accepting of change and able to question everything we ended up in a situation where our version of macrobiotics was always right and if someone did not succeed it was his or her fault for not following macrobiotics correctly. I have even read people trying to claim Aveline Kushi did not eat properly causing her own cancer and sighting eating the bottom rice and deep fried kombu as examples. If they are enough to cause cancer most of the worlds population would have died a long time ago. The problem with this defensive thinking dressed up as being positive and believing is that the practitioners within the movement stagnate and rather than moving forward and embracing change end up doggedly trying to justify something that is twenty years out of date. I agree that there are far to many variables in life to ever know what it is that can help us recover, live longer or find happiness. It could be laughter, food, attitude, family life, friends, lack of stress, environment, work, creativity, water, air, feeling in love, sex, being valued, appreciation.........the list is endless. Personally I think we just have to make the best of what we can and see what happens. If we believe one thing is going to solve anything then we become complacent about all the rest. All the best, Simon I've been in a dilemna for quite a while with a lot of New Age ideas - I like the idea of thinking positively and I like the idea of that which we put more energy into will create more of the same. But it bothered me to think ourselves as the final arbiter of everything that happens in life - there was no room for G-d in this way of thinking. And also as bad, what do people think of themselves if they don't " succeed, " don't heal, don't get rich, don't have good marriages - I think alot of criticism of mb is exactly on that focus, if you are sick, then you just aren't doing " it " right - and that bothers me alot. Yes, we should always try to improve our lot in life, but feel we could totally control everything??? Perhaps it's human nature to want to have that control, but I feel it's humbling to know we can't. and arrogant to think we can. And happily I just received an article saying it even better than I can. Even in our wishes, we ne! ed balance. http://www.aish.com/societyWork/arts/-The_Secret-_Revealed.asp Klara No need to miss a message. Guest guest
i was in a car accident earlier this year. i had to deal with 3.5, close to 4 years of chronic pain from a fissure and i had lots of distress over it being colon or rectal cancer - thank God for the colonoscopy in february. i am only 36 and really, i am not quite happy where i am with things. a lot has to do with being caught up in an infidelity from my other half. moving on is so difficult. these are things that i don't wish upon myself. the secret is just as effective as say, the landmark education's forum. i did that years ago. i am not a millionaire. i don't own my own company. i don't even have a CD out! i just bought the book 'the modern vegetarian kitchen' and i am in love with the author's story. how he wanted to be a musician and he ended up being a cook - a vegan/vegetarian/macrobiotic cook. that sounded amazing and is amazing to me. i love to be in the kitchen. i love creating things. i want to learn more about this group and being vegan but i feel like there is a calling inside to take the best of vegan, vegetarian, and macrobiotics and put it all together. even in listening to andrew weil in a very early morning PBS infomercial, i want to be healthy through cooking. i would love to share that with others. here in DC there is almost no macrobiotic community.....none. why? i would love to dream of opening a fabulous macrobiotic kitchen that offers amazing cuisine like that of wagamama in UK, the best of vegan dishes from the in NYC, and the awesome desserts of eric lesseur from M Cafe in CA (i just ordered his cookbook). i feel like i am wasting away my life in what i am doing and yet, i have to pay the bills. i can't seem to do it all. but i would love to contribute to the way people think about eating less animals to perhaps none at all, to eat more grains and veggies and fruits, and enjoy what eating really healthy can be like without having to buy into atkins or south beach diets. that is my secret..... > > I just started reading the book! > Have you read it or did you see the DVD? > > I feel the same way you do about it and I've only just begin. > I read one part where they were actually saying if you were in a car > accident you caused it yourself! > I can sure tell you the one I was in back in 2000 was not something I wanted > or caused. Guest guest
Your secret sounds good. I do have a question about the taking the best from vegetarian, vegan, macro and put it all together tho. Maybe it's b/c I'm vegan and frankly can't understand how one can pick thru and accept some principles of veganism and not others. I view it as an ethical thing and can't get my moms 'half a loaf is better than none' thinking. Yes it's bettet to get closer to veganism but then I wonder if someone loves animals how can they eat them or think it's ok to use them and allow their suffering. Oh I could go on and on. I don't want to have another hysterical vegan discussion though. I'm sorry to hear of what you've had to deal with and very happy to hear that you feel yourself moving forward. That's great news. I'm hoping you have some good friends who are helping you out. You have some wonderful ideas I think with time you will sort out the way to make it really work. Maybe one day we will be discussing your new restaurant here??? Peace Reg > > > > I just started reading the book! > > Have you read it or did you see the DVD? > > > > I feel the same way you do about it and I've only just begin. > > I read one part where they were actually saying if you were in a > car > > accident you caused it yourself! > > I can sure tell you the one I was in back in 2000 was not > something I wanted > > or caused.
