Guest guest
,No, I haven't seen any molluscum in my solo practice so far but I used to use liquid nitrogen for them and it worked well. This journal article mentions Verruca-Freeze as a treatment option for molluscum so it must work some of the time: http://www.aafp.org/afp/20030315/1233.html. I just can't afford to keep a big vat of liquid nitrogen around even though I think it is more effective than VF. SetoSouth Pasadena, CA : Have you ever used it for benign STD Molluscum contagiosum. Guest guest
About verruca freeze - I have been using histofreezer, but hear through this list serve that the verruca is more effective. Are people using the "limiting cones" (gulp, about $85.) and/or the "cryobuds"?N ,No, I haven't seen any molluscum in my solo practice so far but I used to use liquid nitrogen for them and it worked well. Guest guest
I've never used Histofreezer but I heard the same thing. Then again, I think Verruca-Freeze is not as effective as LN2. Looking at their temperatures, it makes sense. Histofreezer gets as cold as -57 degrees C, while Verruca-freeze gets down to -70 degrees C and liquid nitrogen is the coldest at -197 degees C. I do use the limiting cones but they came with the starter kit. I hardly ever use the cryobuds because most of the lesions have been flat. I've wondered if a cotton swab wouldn't work just as well. Guest guest
Having not used either of these particular brands, I speak in some degree of ignorance, but by “limiting cone” do you mean something that serves the same purpose as spraying through an otoscope speculum to “focus” the spray? Puzzled, Annie Re: Verruca Freeze : I will be using the limiting cones. I did not know they were $85. I will have to look into that. Guest guest
Yes, they come in varying diameters so you can freeze big or small lesions. See picture on manufacturer's website: http://www.cryosurgeryinc.com/As always, I have no financial interest in Verruca-Freeze, but I am a satisfied customer. Guest guest
I just saw them on the sales page for the Verruca Freeze - take a look at one of the medical supple websites and you'll see.
