Greetings to all!

I am new the group and mostly just lurk, but thought that I would chime in on this issue.

I adore my Silit Sicomatic pressure cooker. I have two pots/bottoms: one that about 2 to 3 liters and the other that is about 5 liters. They are very heavy, black enameled gorgeous things. The pressure system has adjustable settings plus an indicator that rises up to show how much relative pressure there is. I've never had a problem with clogging, and the lid system is very, very easy to clean and maintain. The pot bottoms are my pots of choice (for that size) if I am doing normal cooking without pressure.

I also have a very large, 8 liter Magafesa (my old mb teacher's all-time favorite pressure cooker brand). It also works great, but seems to take a long time to come up to pressure (maybe just because it's so large, perhaps). It has a fairly simple pressure gizmo on top that only becomes complicated if you try to take it apart for intensive cleaning. The nice thing about the Magafesa is that it has two stubby handles on the pot instead of one long one, so it is somewhat more compact to store.

My favorite of the two is the Silit pc. The only reason I can come up with that would make it disadvantageous to anyone is the weight. Persons with injured or weak wrists/hands might have a harder time hefting it. I personally love heavy pots, the heavier, the better--I've got a thing for Le Creuset as well. :)

Peace,

CC

Thanks for your input. I actually ended up ordering the Kuhn

Rikon. The only reason I didn't look too hard at the Silit was the

difference in price...it was out of the range I wanted to spend but I

know it's a very high quality unit.

Thanks again!

I LOVE my WMF - to me it's like magic - I love sitting and just

watching as the indicator goes higher - someone told us of a cooking

class he took with Michio - and Michio just sat and watched as his food

cooked - I loved that image - so calming.

....I did that the other day, too. I was mesmerized by the quiet sound

and the little red thingy moving purposefully, I couldn't look away.

Then I started feeling stupid and lazy, just sitting here staring at a

pot, and I got up to do other stuff. But you are right, it *was* very

calming while it lasted!
