Guest guest
Gordon: Just one idea would be to have Medfusion or another company/IT person creat the site. You and possibly a board for IMPs would set criteria to be included, ie minimum data set. Then divide the cost between those with links on the site. PS. I have a friend that hosts American Express Website. Much bigger than we are, but he might be able to point us to talented people to develop our site. "L. Guest guest
Hi and all, I have been able to get to this listserve after a long gap--things have been crazy, transitioning into my new practice. Guest guest
,Yes, I am still alive and kicking. My practice is holding steady but that's only because I've been closed to new patients for the past 2-3 months. I am only seeing about 20 patient/week but that is about all I can handle plus trying to catch up on the backlog of billing that I've let pile up since my practice opened. I do get calls from people wanting to join my practice (through word of mouth from satisfied patients), so I'm not worried that there won't be enough interest when I open back up to new patients in September. But I've decided it's better for me to get a better handle on the growth of my practice first before doing anything else. That's why I haven't been at anything with IMP lately (sorry, Gordon). I feel like I'd better take care of the store first. I also am embarrassed to admit that I can only handle 20 patients a week + their associated administrative stuff. At Kaiser I used to see 24+ patients/day. Plus I'm a procrastinator. I'd rather do "fun" stuff like set up an online map than what I'm supposed to do. But there is hope as I am planning to hire a part-time medical biller in September to help out. I think it will make a big difference as I will be able to grow my practice. I hope you and your practice are thriving! And to Don Ives, I'm sorry I haven't responded about SpringCharts, but I intend to write a review for you soon. The short version is: the best thing about it is the price and it allows me to use my Mac. The worse thing about it is it doesn't really save me any time in charting, but perhaps that's true of all EMRs.Back into the woodwork for now. Guest guest
-- Good luck with your plans. My perspective from the list is that you have all the smarts and the heart to make your IMP thrive. Your words remind me of my first four months. But I'm still in the " fluid " stage of the office and making adjustments every week to how I do things. I'm solo-solo and now am seeing about 25 appts/week (about 250 pts registered with me). I'm estimating about 3 hours/ day of administrative stuff (phone/fax/scanning/notes/mail/billing/RelayHealth/cleaning office/etc) but it's all broken into little pieces of time... then once or twice a week I have a 2-3 hour burst of stuff to catch up with. I finally got billing rolling and wow does it feel good to get the checks from insurance! -- I'm shaping my habits with the imagery of how good that feels (so the hassle of billing work is tolerable and procrastination dissolves). I'm finding the office gets easier and easier to work as I get into particular patterns, and once patients are in the EMR/QuickBooks. Now I'm improving my voice recognition templates so that is going smoother too. .... overall, a big part of what I love about this model so far is that whatever hassles do pop up, I have the attitude that I can improve it and adjust. That there is no set " system " that is established by others, or particular " rules " I am supposed to follow is not just psychologically liberating it gives me fantastic potential to simply keep improving... not by working harder like I'd have to do in my old office, but by adjusting my thinking/habit/system/attitude, ie - " working smarter " . And once I do that the improvement is sometimes instantaneous! .... perhaps this whole IMP experience should be studied from a psychological / sociological perspective??? Tim > , > Yes, I am still alive and kicking. My practice is holding steady but > that's only because I've been closed to new patients for the past 2-3 > months. The worse thing about it is it doesn't really save me any time in charting, but perhaps that's true of all EMRs. Back into the woodwork for now. Seto South Pasadena, CA Hey -I wondered how you and your practice are, since we hadn't heard from you in a while!I thought a question involving the "cutting edge website" might bring you out of the woodwork!. Guest guest
I'm there, but you have to zoom in a bit on Rochester due to the number of IMPs up here. P.S., , my husband lived at the old, old, old former city hall 1/2 block north of Colorado on Fair Oaks, in the old days. He mentioned that when he saw you on the map. Also, if you're going to add yourself to the Frappr Group Map, it would be helpful if you entered your full practice address (if you want) into the location, rather than just the city and state. I'm envisioning this as a resource for patients to find us, too. Click on my marker for an example of what kind of info can be entered.. Seto South Pasadena, CA 'Medical Micropractices' now has a Group Map on Frappr so we can all see each other on a map! Come put yourself on the map, too! Here's a message from Seto: " I found this free website which allows you to add yourself to a map. You have to register, but YOU would be in control of editing/updating your own information. I thought it would be cool to be able to see where we all are, plus it would help solve the problem of " Does anyone know a good doctor near . . . . ? " The downside is there is no tabular list of everyone, so that would need to be maintained manually. The process at the moment is: Someone (thanks Seto!) has put updates into an excel spreadsheet and I've occasionally posted this update as a linked attachment from my web site. It is pretty rudimentary, but does serve the purpose of getting info out about where we are. On the other hand, I'd love to have a more robust engine out there. One that would: Allow us to post our own info and make changes when necessary. Allow us to include a little bit about what we do that makes us unique Allows consumers the ability to find an IMP near them I think it is time for a searchable on line database, but this requires web programming I cannot do (lack of skill). I'll hire someone to do this, but would others be willing to help chip in on the cost? Should I set it up so that each of us pays a fee to post (and if so, what's reasonable?)? Guest guest
Hi Padma, Glad to hear from you. I remember your trouble with the group you were leaving, and wondered what they would do when they realized you weren't going to roll over and play dead. Things will be crazy while you set up, but it should work. Don't forget to take the time to learn how to follow the billing. If you learn that early you won't have to learn like me...a little too late. Joanne in Drain, OregonPadma....... See the all-new, redesigned Yahoo.com. Check it out. Guest guest
The map is fun to look at. I must have missed something, because I tried to add myself, and it said ‘wrong code’ – I didn’t have a code to enter – what is it, please? A. Eads, M.D. Pinnacle Family Medicine, PLLC phone fax P.O. This map is terrific! I've added myself. --Padma
Guest guest
Thanks, , I'll be waiting. In the meantime, does anyone have any experience with the EMR Comchart? The recent advertisement now withstanding, I have been following its development over the last 2 years, and it does look like a program that would work well in a small practice, especially for a Mac.Lots of information on it at Comchart.com, but I would love to hear from someone who uses it.Don Ives ,Yes, I am still alive and kicking.
