Guest guest
: This applies to an older woman, not a child, but an acquaintance of mine would get alopecia areata (sp?) in response to stress (?they thought) and what would help was cortisone injections directly into the scalp in the bald areas. The hair would then grow back. Good luck -- (mom to , age 2, antibody def, IgA, IgM, IgG def - not on IGIV yet)
Guest guest
Thanks Cheryl and for your response to my email regarding s hair. It is hard to describe, there are no obvious bare patches, the hair has thinned out all over so that alot of her scalp is showing through, and then there a some places worse than that with no hair at all. She is blonde, so I think this helps it not being so noticeable, at least at the moment. There are no circles of bare patches as would indicate ringworm. There is no rash, no redness. does have early onset hypothyroidism. Perhaps it is time to get another blood test done to see if her levels have now got to the stage where she requires the thyroxin replacement med. We were told with the last bloodwork that it was just a matter of sitting tight and monitoring her levels before the med was commenced. , mum to (5) and (3)
Guest guest
, This sounds exactly like Grace's hair!!! She is blonde too and it is thinned all over so you can see her scalp from across the room and then a few spots where there isn't much hair at all. She really looks like children do when they have started chemo therapy but haven't quite lost all of the hair. We went to the mall on Sat. and I can't tell you how many people stared at her and looked at her as if there was something wrong. The paleness, horrible dark circles and her begging to ride b/c she was so tired didn't help. I am so tired of everyone staring, not b/c I worry what people think but b/c I would like to forget about things for just a little while and with everyone staring and asking questions it's really hard to get away from it. I am hoping to hear something this week about Grace's blood tests. I'm almost hoping for hypothyroid just so it is something they can treat. KWIM? Guest guest
I spoke to my pharmacist yesterday about hair loss. This time for me--the warfarin I am on for anticoagulation has the side effect of alopecia, and my own hair is coming out in handfuls. As I am on this med now for life, I thought I'd best check if there was anything I could do to rverse the effect-- last time I was on the wafarin, in 98, I had such a receded hairline I reminded myself of that little Munster boy LOL! I can just imagine it happening again, but this time continuing to recede until it reaches the back of my neck! HA! OK, the reason I am writing--besides the preparations for mens baldness (regain, etc) that tickled my funny bone no end--well, it was either laugh at myself or cry!-- the idea of brewers yeast came up. Apparently one of his customers under chemo used it with excellent results. This links up to the use of natural products that we have been discussing the past couple of days. I was wondering if anyone had any information on using this product at all-- would it be safe to try for ? Take care everyone, , mum to (5) and (3), both with Selective Antibody def, dysfunctional antibody def, hypothyroidism, asthma, GI issues, and () CPH
