Guest guest
I'm reading Len Porzio's Kombucha Balancing Act, and he says you can add fructose to the glass bottle when ready to fridge (along with other things like ginger, banana, apple, etc.). What about xylitol? I'm trying to stop eating refined sugars (and fructose is 'refined' if it's not still in the fruit, am I right?) and I'm hearing interesting things about xylitol as a substitute. Now I'm not going the opposite direction and wanting to use xylitol and keep on being addicted to sweets. I'm working on getting my body away from sugars all together, and getting my 'fix' from natural, whole foods. However, I have a fridge full of very vinegary kt, plus 3 brewing jars that have been sitting for over a month and I know they're going to be too acidic for me to drink. What else can I do to salvage what I have? This is one reason I was wanting to get rid of most of my SCOBYs in the first place. I'm overrun with the stuff and am not drinking it. (I am still willing to share my extras with people who live close enough to come get it, tho. I have PLENTY.) I'm also using the SCOBYs for medicinal purposes. I have very dry skin, and what I think might be a fungus or systemic yeast on my feet. They flake and peel, and then I pick at it, and the next thing I know, my heels are sore because I peeled too much skin off. I put a thin SCOBY (from my jar of pieces I'm using for vaginal suppositories) on one heel and covered it with a large bandage. I'll let you know how it works. I'm also using Bev's Kombucha Bath Buddy in the shower, but not sure how my hair likes it. And I use the kt neat for my yeast infection...definitely soothes the itching, after I inhale sharply from the acid on the tender, raw areas. Thanks to all of you for your suggestions to use my extra kt, and thanks for what you're about to give me! a
