Guest guest
One of my patients has a plan that covers 100% one preventative medicine office visit a year and the blood work done during this visit. Do you have any idea how I should code it ? I want to do CBC but I don't know how to link it to the visit. Do I need a reason to have the CBC, or can I include it in the prevention ? Thank you, Anemaria Lutas
Guest guest
Just link it to the preventive code based on his age. If you need the code let me know his age and if he is new or established. Guest guest
But yes, she is right that it may not be covered. I don't think routine " screening " CBC's are covered, are they? Codes like fatigue, dizziness, etc would work to support it but I doubt that v70.0 will. > > > Date: 2006/02/27 Mon PM 06:41:53 EST > To: > Subject: Re: Preventative medicine > > Just link it to the preventive code based on his age. Guest guest
I have coded cbc, lipids, tsh and blood sugar for V70 on anthem and some of the uhc plans that pay for a preventive code every year. Those "definity" plans by UHC that are really health care savings accounts with major medical back up and one preventive visit per year pay for those labs here without any problem. It may be age specific too though, I haven't ordered all that stuff on the 20 yr olds. I have to say that I think those insurances are kind of nice. (I hate UHC for other reasons)

Guest guest
That is insurance specific. Each insurance canchoose which codes to support for reimbursement. drbrock@... wrote: But yes, she is right that it may not be covered. I don't think routine "screening" CBC's are covered, are they? Guest guest
It is interesting how certain docs hate certain insurances. For us, UHC is not so bad (relatively speaking). Anthem is the one I would never take, with all their down coding & “blending”, denials, having to automatically send notes to justify a 99215/99205 etc. Re: Preventative medicine I have coded cbc, lipids, tsh and blood sugar for V70 on anthem and some of the uhc plans that pay for a preventive code every year. Guest guest
I always liked UHC until this week, when they lost me $5000. More on that later.
