Guest guest
Hey all, The button quail hatched! Only 13 out of 50 eggs since they were packed soooo poorly - lots of broke eggs, broken air sacs in eggs... But I have 13 of the tiniest baby birds I have ever seen. How something so small can hatch out and fend for itself is a miracle. They are less than half the size of a bobwhite chick. Hatching these things out and taking care of them is NOT for the beginner bird enthusiast! I'll post some pictures on TFMN's facebook page once there is enough to take a picture of. Also, despite excessively poor packaging, I hatched out 6 Welsummers. This is the bird on the Kellogg's Cornflakes box. Very nice birds, they lay an extremely dark brown egg. One of my incubators is full of meat bird eggs - these are the F1 and F2 Mottled Java crossed with CornishXRock. I am hoping to buy part of a friend's order of Delaware chicks. The Delaware is the bird that was raised commercially before the CornishXRock came along. They are now on the endangered list so having a large flock would be, as Martha says, A Good Thing. Am working 2 outside part-time jobs that I am suddenly putting in more hours at than what I knew, but it helps keep the place running, as does your patronage at the Warehouse. I thank Warehouse customers again, you are vital to the success of my farm. Off and running, Pat
Guest guest
Hi Pat, I for one am very appreciative of what you provide. Plus I love your farm updates. I would have no chance to even find the kind of stuff you bring anywhere else, to say nothing of matching the quality and price. Sara > > Hey all, > The button quail hatched!
