Guest guest
Hey gang well Im gonna give brown rice a try tonight with dinner (baking a chicken! YUM!) and i was wondering if you all had any favorite ways of cooking it to keep a good flavor but not add a lot of junk (like adding butter would..). Spices? Chicken broth? Just curious! thanks for any suggestions Amy
Guest guest
Hi Amy, College Inn makes a good fat-free chicken broth (I'm not sure you have that brand where you are tho). That's a great start. You can also add some basil (my favorite herb), a teeny bit of rosemary (try to mince or crumble it), and maybe a dash of ground black pepper. I've never made it like that, but it sounds good to me now. =) I've usually just made the rice plain but cut my chicken into cubes and mixed it with the rice and a bunch of salsa (SALSA is so much my friend in BFL! hehe) -Chris > Hey gang well Im gonna give brown rice a try tonight with dinner > (baking a chicken! Guest guest
Hey Amy, There's a great recipe for stuffed chicken breasts in the March MM. It uses brown rice mixed with basil and chopped tomatoes. The rice is cooked in chicken broth. There's even a little skim mozzarella mixed in. It's yummy!! The rice mixture alone is good. a > Hey gang well Im gonna give brown rice a try tonight with dinner > (baking a chicken! Guest guest
Hi Amy, I recommend the short grain brown rice over the long grain variety. It has a nutty texture and delicious flavor. I add the zero calorie butter spray -- it tastes as good as butter to me! Jeanne > Hey gang well Im gonna give brown rice a try tonight with dinner > (baking a chicken!
