when unda 270 ointment aggravates

Hi everybody,

I prescribed 270 ointment to a patient on her second visit as a palliative

alternative to hydrocortisone cream. After she used it for a couple of days her

" eczema " flared - bigger, itchier and uglier. She stopped, went back to her

hydrocortisone and cleared it all up in a couple of days.

This issue started in 2009 after she used some Aveno sunscreen on her face.

After 5 minutes her skin started to burn and peel. Since then the traumatized

area on her face and neck will be reactivated by stress, lack of sleep, most

skincare products, dust, chemicals and before her period. The reactivation is

usually a patch on her neck that is red and itchy. It always clears with

hydrocortisone cream but comes back after a couple of months.

She has no atopic history, but is chemically sensitive to perfumes, car exhaust,

smoke/smog. She is a chiropractor who was getting puffy red hands after working

on patients that had residue on their skin from welding, construction, mechanics

etc.

Other medical history - hair loss, unexplained weight gain, wheat sensitivity

She avoids wheat (which has resolved gi issues). I have ordered a thyroid panel

and asked her to do BBTs.

Given her history of chemical sensitivities my plan is to start liver detox

(L-trepein) and/or drainage (1, 20, 243) next visit.

My question is about the unda 270 ointment. I have prescribed this a number of

times in the past and have found it to be very helpful for symptomatic relief

about 75% of the time and not helpful at all 25% of the time. I haven't seen an

aggravation like this before. I'd love to get some feedback about what an

aggravation means.
