Ducks and 11/21 delivery

Hi All,

Was surprised when Warren told me the ducks haven't gotten sold yet.

Where did all the people go who wanted them? Well, duck lovers, good

news and bad news. Bad news first. If you want whole ducks, get them

from the Warehouse now. I took them down to the processor under the

mistaken assumption that the processing was going to be reasonably

priced. I was wrong. Half of the price being charged for those birds

is going for the processing. I can't afford to raise them on what's

left. The ducks that are still on the hoof will be going today for

processing but will then get turned over to Meyer's Meats for smoking.

If you are wanting smoked duck for Christmas, I guess its good news but

I am going to have to rethink raising ducks when the processing costs

this much.

I will be delivering various goodies to the Warehouse on Saturday. As

always, I have every intention of being there early but it is a very

long drive.

Along with the ducks, I am taking turkeys, pheasant, chickens and

guineas down for processing. Guinea is much like pheasant only priced

like chicken. I believe the turkeys will be in the 10 lb range, they

will also be priced the same as chicken.

Hoping to get more teas, soups and noodles made up. Did get some

mustards made - Green Peppercorn, Tarragon & Honey, Garlic & Red Wine.

Will make more for December. You folks will really like those.

Off to load birds,

Pat Z.

Faith keeps me farming, farming keeps me broke.
