Welcome to the OB world! Once an OB nurse, always an OB nurse! I've been in it for 34 years now!

I'm sure you'll have good training by the staff as most orientations are 3-6 months, and you'll learn as you go along. I would say to reread the postpartum section of your textbook, and remember that it's ok to tell a patient you are not sure of the answer to her question but you will go find out!

Good morning & Happy New Year! I joined last week and I'm just now getting around to introducing myself. I'm (a.k.a Shell) and I just graduated nursing school and got a job in a postpartum dept here in Florida. I start on Monday. I am married and have no kids yet, except for my dog and cat that think they are humans sometimes. Any tips for starting out in nursing, especially in the PP area are always welcome! Since I don't have kids, it's all fairly new to me and I'm not sure exactly how I'm going to be able to answer these new mom's questions?! I'm hoping to get a good preceptor that actually likes to teach and will help out.. we'll see. Looking forward to meeting everyone! Shell __________________________________________________
