Guest guest
For those of you that want to build the toroidal transformer plasma tube driver. Here is are some places which carry the (much easier to get) FT240-43 toroidal core which Aubrey says works as well as the one featured on his site. http://www.universal-radio.com/catalog/misc/amidon.html (spec sheet) http://partsandkits.com/toroids.asp http://www.oselectronics.com/ose_p88.htm (they have the glass tape also!) Manufacturer of part no. FT240-43 (they may be able to help choose a core which will operate at higher MHz freqs.) You can try other manufacturers of toroidal cores - they may have more to choose from. Amidon, Inc. Santa Ana, CA 714 850-4660 I recommend getting most of the other parts from www.mouser.com They have an extremely good selection, at low prices. The 1.25mm magnet wire can be subbed with no. 16 (1.32mm) The 2.0mm magnet wire can be subbed with no. 14 (2.08mm) Here is a 24V, 10A transformer, which will supply 20A at 12V when using the center tap and 2 rectifier diodes. These are very hard to find at this low price: http://www.mpja.com/productview.asp?product=7846+TR Contact me directly for locating large heat sinks, etc. The MOSFET driver IC can be purchased from Digikey -- Best regards, Bil Green 2001 TV VCR Mammoth Lakes, CA 93546 mailto:tv.vcrrepair@...
