Stainless steel is fine, so you can use kitchen scissors, or a knife. Scissors are best. The truth inside the myth is that if the culture is in continuous contact with metals, it will eat away at the metal and leach toxins into the brew or SCOBY. However, we've been able to determine on this list that brief contact (e.g. a ladle and funnel for decanting) with stainless steel is fine. Not any other metals though! --V ~~~ There is no way to peace; peace is the way ~~~~ --A.J. Muste
