Guest guest
This may not be the best atmosphere to make this correction, but it always drives me nuts. I do not want to start an argument. The statement that no other animal except man drinks milk after weaning is very, very false. Granted, no other animal has an independent way of obtaining milk so all animals who now enjoy milk get it from a human source. (You need thumbs to milk.) Generally, only bred dairy animals make more milk than what their own baby needs so there's not a large supply of milk available. No cow is going to let a dog chomp on her teats and no dog is going to put inself into a vulnerable position to allow a cow to nurse. And not even a cow or goat mama will allow any baby except their own to nurse. For the past few months I have a 2 year old llama who has been unsuccessfully trying to convince the cow to let her nurse. She had been weaned for well over a year before she met the cow. Animal husbandry is probably the oldest form of agriculture, not growing grains. The animals were not kept for looks, but food.
