Guest guest
The sneaky, least stressful way is to start with what he already eats, and keep adding little tidbits until he goes for it. Then you slowly start lowering the amt of Meow Mix. He'll let you know which combinations he likes. You will be cutting these up into tidbits anyway, so experiment a little. Sour cream from the store and a bit of fish salad you've made for yourself is pretty irresistible to most. So are scrambled eggs. Try giving him bits of yours. Don't feed too much, 1/4 cup total, and pick up the dish when he's done, within the half hour. I feed only 2x per day, and the occasional midnight snack if they "ask". They usually eat now only when I do, and sometimes I ignore them anyway. This gives them something to ask for, and to be responded to. They like that kind of attention. To stimulate his appetite, and his digestive enzymes properly, you must get him hungry enough to start asking you to feed him, so just put out very small amounts of food. People fill the crunchy dish up super high, and let it sit there forever until empty..... very bad idea for cats. They are obligate carnivores, very different from dogs. Three days without food is not unheard of, and it s good for them to fast on occasion. Not for sick animals though. Too much stress. --Terry K.C. Thanks for the info on the dogs. Any more on the cats? I do give my cats & dogs some raw goats’ milk, eggs, some fish … my dog loves kefir, but their main diet is Nutro dog food, and my cat will only eat Meow Mix with a little goat’s milk sometimes. Are these not healthy brands, and what should I be giving them?5256 Bev
