I've had this so ingrained in >me that this is the way you are suppost to eat that I'm having a hard >time with NT since it pays no attention to food combining. What is >the truth? The idea behind food combining is that protein and >starches take different energies and enzymes to digest so when you >eat them together the undigested food rots, ferments, and creates >toxins in the bloodstream. Dani: Well, you see I come from a Cliff Sheats background and in THAT system the worst thing you can do is eat a starch without a protein! In fact my Mom said that too ... if you just eat starch, it sends your blood sugar up too fast. The best meal is one that has fibrous vegies (salad, cooked greens etc) and starches (potato, corn) and meat, according to my past history. Now on the Warrior Diet, you are supposed to eat in courses, fresh greens first (to help with enzymes and digestion), then meat, then starches if you want. Also on that diet, you eat raw fruit and raw vegies during the day, so in effect they are " separate " from your meat/starch. I can't say that combining foods has had any bad effects on my digestion. I do think the WD method works the best, esp. as there is just one big meal per day and I think the stomach works better that way (save up all the enzymes for one big meal, then sleep on it). Eating foods I react to REALLY makes my digestion lousy though, whether or not they are combined with anything else. -- Heidi Jean

Guest guest
No, not all of us eat that way. I think the ones that do may not have any food sensitivites. I think food combinging might be reasonably helpful for people with digestive problems, but I think we're designed to be able to eat any healthy foods in any combined form. Guest guest
I agree, Chris. I do have digestive problems and it helps to eat my proteins and starches separate. We are all different. Listen to your body or see someone that can do kinesiology. I am doing amazingly better after seeing a chiropractor that also does accupunture and kinesiology. I am thrilled to say that my 20 year rash was caused by candida and is now gone! Just one sign that my gut is healing!
