Hey everyoneI saw a 41 yo female today with a past history of Lyme that was not fully treated because of her inability to tolerate antibiotics... although she has used Allimax on her own and states that she thinks it is helping. She is Vitamin D deficient and states that she is unable to supplement with levels above 1000 IU because it makes her "get depressed and have nightsweats"...she referenced a book by Rosner who supports the use of the Marshall protocol...(we all know about the validity question there) among other alternative Lyme treatments...anybody out there familiar with his book?Any thoughts/opinions?thanks! Hi I just cannot see validity in the Marshall protocol. Pts of mine who come and have been on it elsewhere are not betterI think it is more of a belief system. My personal perspectiveBut in this situation it could be her belief system that high doses of Vit D will make her sickIn this woman I would check her 1,25 Vit D. Sometimes Lyme pts can have excessive forming of 1,25 from 25 OH Vit D and can feel sick, especially if their calcium goes up ( a late and hopefully not present finding)I have never seen Vit D 1,000 units cause these symptoms in anyone Zieve MD Hey everyoneI saw a 41 yo female today with a past history of Lyme that was not fully treated because of her inability to tolerate antibiotics... although she has used Allimax on her own and states that she thinks it is helping.
