What was unclear was whether they were going to encourage and/or pay for additional visits by exterminators etc. Either way ... yeah, the " ethical considerations " meant that they weren't exactly being good about making it clear to the participants that " yeah, we want to study this because we think it's bad for your kids " . Then again, that's just my take. Eh. MFJ I wanna live! I wanna experience the Universe! And I wanna eat pie! ~Urgo

Guest guest
In my house I have made my own household cleaning products for years, and we only use all natural shampoos, conditioners, toothpaste, etc. Of course most plastics emit gases, carpets emit toxins, and wood products, paints, etc. all have their issues. Then their is radiation from computers and cell phones, even if you do not use a microwave. Then there is electrical power line emissions, automotive gas emissions, problems with tap water(if you drink it, we don't), fumes from candles, barbeques, first and second hand smoke, etc. Then there is a ton of chemicals in your food, unless you are a complete purist, and then there is still some. We could be all day at this. Bottom line is though that you are exposed to a lot even if you try not to be. In Europe a study was done that showed most cancer was not caused by second hand smoke or the like...but from gas emissions. We are just told the whole thing about second hand smoke to cover up what the gas companies are doing to us. Most of the chemical issues we face are oil derived products. BUT....that is what we have RAW MILK for...so that we can have something to help us process this crap out of our bodies! Lastly, I am not be surprised by this proposed government study. I have read more studies and experiments done on children and adult alike by our US government in the last 100 years then you could imagine. My adoptive father was in the military during the Korean war, and was exposed to a atomic bomb exploding to see what it would do to him. In recent years my brother in law and all who lived on the military base(including children) were exposed to a high allergy grass to see what it would to the residents...for chemical warfare experiments. It is done all the time, everywhere, all around you. Blessings, -AngelKirkland Washington

Guest guest
I would never subject my child to this sort of testing even in the reverse- to compare how a more natural lifestyle may help. I make my own soap and shampoo bars, used organic cloth diapers, bf for years, made my own wipes with home made castile soap w/lavender and tea tree, have never used bug repellent. We do have a micro in the basement that I can't get rid of because if was from MIL and dh doesn't believe it's bad. It's been used maybe 2x in the past year by dh -I'm sure he would use it more if it was up here. We've been eating all organic for a few years now and only for about the last 8 months or so all or dairy has been organic/raw. My youngest child has only on rare occasions while out eaten food that wasn't organic. She has very few plastic toys. -I'm sure there's no money to be made in a study of these kids and nobody in big business will put their money where their mouth is when they go on about how a child's welfare is the most important thing. The bottom line is always money. -----Original Message----- From: jms4548 Hi ; I think most kids are exposed to quite a lot of chemicals in their daily lives. Shampoos, soaps, lotions, diapers, diaper wipes, mosquito repellent, microwaved plastic just to name a few items that contain chemicals....and just think of all the pesitcides/preservatives/chemicals kids get from food items them may consume. If this study compares chemical levels in kids compared to adults who live in the same enviroment it might be a wakeup call for people to learn how much children could absorb. Unfortunately I think a very small percentage of parents work as hard as you seem to to reduce exposure to chemicals. Jill

Guest guest
Jill, Parents do amazing things for their kids. And most people will do amazing things for better health. Just as so many people give up wheat, gluten or grains, others milk, others cooked food, so my family has given up chemicals. I believe that generations of chemicals and overly processed foods can lead to " genetic defects " like allergies, ADD, heart problems, diabetes. So, I guess I count my family lucky that our worst problems are sensitivities that " make us feel really bad " . After all, I am city bred through the last century, and therefore fresh raw foods are almost a completely foreign concept for me. (Heck, when I was little I didn't really believe that milk came from cows, that eggs came form chickens, and that we actually kill animals and eat them. It was just food in the grocery store to me.) Doing something as small as reading labels on everything, not just food, has just become a way of life. It is amazing what chlorine in tap water does to me, or what happens when someone spray a pesticide on anything I or my daughter come into close contact with. It is not hard work to reduce our exposure, it is necessary. And all it takes is a conscientious decision, dedication, a good detective skills. > > I think most kids are exposed to quite a lot of chemicals in their > daily lives. Guest guest
There are two sides to every story. Granted, there are too many chemicals that have been used for years. Still are in the big dairies because they have to maintain the appearance of "CLEAN". We don't agree with it and we opt to have clean milk, etc. The same is true in life. If you are a fanatic about what is destroying your life, it will destroy you. If you do what you can to keep your area clean, keep the food you grow and the cows you milk clean and free of as much of the crap in the world today, you are improving life for yourself and you will not suffer from much in the way of allergies, etc. The only way you can escape what is in the air, in the ground and all around your every day life, is to go live on the top of a mountain in Tibet, have your own cow and eat grass. Or, you can simply try to improve your own space. More and more people are becoming aware of the garbage around us and what those before us knowingly and unknowingly have done to the earth. That's why people are now more aware of the benefits raw milk, clean meat and non sprayed food. If you get too weird about what has been done or is being done to damage us, the more you have to do for yourself. But, you have to be realistic about it or you create things that bother you that normally wouldn't because you end up believing EVERYTHING is dangerous. In other words you can get real psychologically ill when you might not otherwise be sick. But, to jump on a study before all the facts are in, isn't thinking straight. It's what causes the fanatics to get up in arms and start scaring people all over the place. I was raised in L.A., CA and I do just fine. Whereas, my sister who was raised in the same household with people who aren't allergic to anything believed everything is bad for you and has more allergies then I can believe. You can make yourself sick if you believe you can't escape from the junk or try to make your space better be happier and healthier. Just my opinion. K.C. Re: Pesticide study using children postponed--OT I just think it's worth it to keep an open mind on the article youmentioed, and to consider what the researchers are trying to do inthe first place- protect kids. Guest guest
I totally agree with your viewpoint. I encountered the same type of wildfire fear if you will for lack of a better word on the issue of the bill called The Freedom Commission. I have done a great deal of extensive reading and research on this bill, and even talked with some of the participants of the bill. Much of what was being said was totally taken out of context, and fear just got out of control of what people speculated would happen instead of the real facts. I think your points are well taken and well thoughtout. Do what you can to make your world a better place, but don't be overcome with fear and feed into scare tactics.
