Guest guest
Has anyone (adults) ever taken Movicol to see if it causes them to have cramps or nausea or whatever? I'm going to have to try a whopping big dose of the stuff soon to see if it does. Come to think of it, it's the only laxative that I've given that I haven't tried on myself. It doesn't seem to have any adverse effects on him whereas the Oxypowder, senna and lactulose caused difficulties. We also had good effects with the suppositories but I just feel that he's too old for us to use these now as he's out of nappies. Darla 2009/3/22 Alison Pope Our son (10) was prescribed Movicol by a Paediatric Gastroenterologist at Guy’s hospital for faecal impaction and chronic constipation. It caused our son tremendous difficulties. He lived in fear of the next bowel movement. He became aggressive, antsy, anxious, sleepless and frankly impossible. Poor little thing, it took me a while to work out what was causing this awful behaviour. He does not have the language to describe that he was feeling dizzy, or seeing things, but it would not surprise me, I would guess that he had been feeling very sick. When we took him off the MOvicol he got better within 3-5 days. When we put him back on more natural remedies eg high dose Vitamin C, Oxypowder, and Modified Citrus Pectin he was back to his normal relaxed, cheerful, loving self. Never again to Movicol. Hope this little one gets better too. Alison
