Guest guest
Wow 5am -5pm must be a killer to get up for! I am so not a day person. We have 12 hr day/night 730-730ish. gotta love those 720 deliveries! There is also a 11am-7pm shift. Basically break relief person. Don't know anything different here........... The Mays wrote: I know we have done this before, but we are trying to change our schedule at work and I am wondering what everyone works..?? Most of us currently do 5am to 5pm and 5pm to 5am, with a few coming in at 7am to 5 pm. The reason we start so early is to catch all the early inductions/scheduled sections on day shift. GEttng up so early is starting to kill us all..LOL..but night shift does NOT want to change their hours to 6 to 6 or even 7 to 7. So we are trying to get creative..fill in shifts and such...ideas?? sueWelcome to the OBnurses list! You have the freedom to change your membership settings at any time you choose. Guest guest
We do 7-7's. I can't imagine being up and at work by 5! I work 7p-7a On our unit, we (the night shift) tell our c/s pt.'s to come in by 5 and we prep and have them totally ready so all the day shift has to do is take them off the EFM and up to OR. Our first case is scheduled for 0715... with the pt. heading to the OR usually around 7. Most of our inductions start out as Cervidil inductions, so we get them on our shift around 7:30p, then get them up about 6a, pull the cervidil and put them in the shower so they are all fresh and ready for the day. Sorry I am not much help for your 5-5 situation, but maybe you could shuffle some of the tasks around so nights can share the load. Guest guest
We have lots of shifts...5A-3P, 9A-7P, 7A-7P, 7P-7A, 11A-7P, 7A-3P, 3P-11P, 11P-7A. We can schedule up to 16 inductions and up to 6 or 7 C/S a day, with inductions starting at around 10P and going all the way to 9A I think. C/S's start at 7A and are scheduled to around 12:30 -1P. Did I mention I work in a crazy busy place? Deb Re: [OBnurses] Schedule We do 7-7's. I can't imagine being up and at work by 5! Guest guest
wow your not kidding! How do you keep track of your staff? That is alot of coming and going. If you can do 6-7 c-sec per day are you running 2 OR at the same time? deb wrote: We have lots of shifts...5A-3P, 9A-7P, 7A-7P, 7P-7A, 11A-7P, 7A-3P, 3P-11P, 11P-7A. Guest guest
Deb, Where do you work? How many deliveries do you do a year there? Where I work we do 5000 a year and I thought that was a lot but we only have 2 OR's so you must do a lot more than that.deb wrote: We have 4 OR's and try not to run more that 3 at a time in case of emergency cases. Sometimes we will put a C/S on as one is coming off as the rooms can be turned over pretty quickly. Most of us self schedule, the newer staff does not. We have certain numbers we have to have for day, evening, and night shifts to keep track of how many we have for a certain time. It can get crazy, but it makes sense to us. Guest guest
Just a question for you people who use both kefir and kombucha. What would be the best way to fit both of these into your day? And how much is the norm if you are taking both? Thanks --------------------------------- Food fight? Enjoy some healthy debate in the Yahoo! Answers Food & Drink Q & A.
