Hello.

From some months ago I use cork lids, for when bottle my Kombucha, and now I see

at the bottom of the lids, only in some lids, some green mold, my Kombucha

cultures don´t have mold, so I would like ask if someone had the same problem

and if maybe will be better replace cork lids with plastic lids.

Someone had any experience with this?

Thanks

p

Hi p and EveryOne,

Sorry your corks got moldy, it is best to boil the corks in boiling

water and then dry them before using them and even then, it might be

best not to use corks....I used to cork some of my KT bottles and

never had a problem but corks are porous and so could harbor mold. I

would definitely throw out any corks that were moldy, boil the rest

and consider alternatives....

BTW I was told it is best to use the corks that are tapered so that if

too much carbonation gets develops in the bottle the corks will pop

off rather than the bottle breaking.

Peace, Love and Harmony,

Bev
