How about cost? Has anyone not had insurance cover the helment/bands. I

think I once saw $3,500. I guess if need to we would do it anyway.

Thanks

Sign up for one of those $200 models! Our total cost (casting, all office

visits & band) was $3,343!! Our insurance covered 100% for both bands. Kimry

Tammy-

Cranial Tech has a pymnt plan for families that don't have insurance or whose

insurance won't pay. You make a down payment of $600 and then $475 a month

until all is paid.

I haven't found out yet but I've read that the band costs $200 and some

I'm sorry that was supposed to say $2000 - I know I stink at typing with

Hi !

Your son will adjust to it and in one or two days, hewon't smell and sweat as

much.

My daughter's doc warned me about it and told me it will go away and that her

body will adjust and won't perspire so much. A few days after she was fitted

with the helmet, we went to Brazil. It was REALLY hot and she did fine. Also

my orthoist told me to have her wearing a hat (oversized for her age) during

the summer.

Help!!!!!! Have any of you had problems with the helmet smelling from your

child's perspiration? Last Friday, my 5 1/2 month old son started wearing the

unit and I can't take the smell. He's suppose to wear it 24/7. However, I have

been giving him 2 hour breaks in between washing his head to air out. Heck, we

haven't even reached the summer months living in NJ. Any advise would be

helpful!

,

Use alcohol to clean it out (that will get most of the smell), then

sit the helmet out in the morning sun (upside down) for about an hour.

It really works. I don't think you'll ever get it smelling like roses,

but the sun does help a lot. Don't use any sort of cleaner as this

may burn your baby's skin!!

There are attachments on the bottom of this post. You didn't

indicate that you were attaching anything so I didn't open them (all those

nasty viruses!)

Do you know what they are?

Hi well my son is 8 months now when he first started wearing his

helmet it had a fowl smell but that was in the begining and the more i washed

his head the more I smell it so now i just clean out his helmet and wash his

head every other day and he has gotten use to the helmet and for some reason

i guess his head got use to having the helmet on because now he has no smell

to it. Hope this helps you and puts you a little at eas.

I've heard on this site that there is an adjustment period that the baby may

sweat more at first and this may pass.

We encounter this problem back in Feb when it was cold....I began using 91%

alcohol and still smelled but not as bad. Someone had suggested adhesive

remover wipes. I would say it has helped a great deal. I bought Uni-Solve

wipes. I found them at a medical supply store. You just need to be cautious.

This will cause helmet/band to unglue around the seams. Belinda (Indiana)
