Guest guest
Choosing to have your child circumcised is no crime and ones own choice either way should be respected. The child may not have a voice to choose for or against but that is what we as parents are for. My husband was circumcised as an infant when he could not make decisions and yet still chose to have our son circumcised and I am glad for both.... Choice is a wonderful thing. I would be very upset if I had another boy and were unable to have him circumcised (though this would never happen) ________________________________________________________________________ Try Juno Platinum for Free! Guest guest
I agree. I think that taking away peoples right to choose is a much larger crime. Which could lead to more rights being taken away. I am not willing to give my free will over to the government. Guest guest
Well well....isn't this an interesting topic. Their has and all ways will be pros and cons of circumcision. There are also cultural issue involved. I wouldn't out right call this a "human rights" issue - come on!!!! With all the abortions in the world - women "choosing" to KILL these little BOYS will never be able to debate this "piece of skin" issue. Want to talk human rights - lets really talk human rights - starting in the WOMB!!!!!

When a boy becomes l8 if he wants to amputate the prepuce, that's fine with me but the parents don't own the boy's penis and they don't have to live with the lifetime repercussions of the amputation. We have laws and do not permit choice on amputating the genitalia of baby girls. It is time to afford the same legal protection to baby boys. All across N. America, nurses are leading the way on this important human rights issue. Gloria Lemay
Guest guest
I don't know what kind of circumcisions you have seen, Gloria, but the ones I have do no such thing as "amputating the genitalia" more like a minor trim. A trim that they will not remember and only be glad his parents did what they thought was best rather than for him to have the procedure when he is 18. How dare I minimize the ABSENT "repercussions". Right on !!!! Politically it seems that the same people who are pro abortion are against choice for this minor topic. So I guess we can choose to kill them but if we choose to let them live, we better leave their extra penis skin alone ... cause that is just wrong. (the one with the husband who has a glorious well trimmed penis) "Well well....isn't this an interesting topic. Their has and all ways will be pros and cons of circumcision. Guest guest
...... so was any analgesia used for the circs that you have seen? Regardless, whether it is a "trim" or not, a cut is a cut. I have a circumcised hubby and I left it up to him to decide whether our son would be circumcised or not. I had seen them done and thought it was cruel and unnecessary. My husband did his research and after such decided he could and would make the commitment to teach our son proper hygiene and avoid the UNNECESSARY alteration to our baby's body. So no, , our son will NOT need the procedure done when he is 18. Have you read the literature on the repercussions of acute pain on a baby and how it lowers his/her pain tolerance as a result? As a nurse in L & D I respect my patients decisions......yes you have the right to decisions but how many are making INFORMED decisions??"tracyatyler@..." wrote: I don't know what kind of circumcisions you have seen, Gloria, but the ones I have do no such thing as "amputating the genitalia" more like a minor trim. Guest guest
Most people have already made up their minds abouts circs when they come to the hospital so it is not my place to try to make them feel like crap for deciding to have their child circumcised. No one is forcing them to do it, so my position is are you helping them to give "informed consent" or just trying to make them feel guilty to satisfy your own agenda? Who knows what your son may opt to do when he is 18??? Your right ... it will be his choice to make. Teaching a young and healthy person how to keep himself clean and infection free is easy... what happens when men get older or sick and cannot keep up ? I have seen 80 year old men have circs due to chronic infection. So "necessary" is in the eye of the beholder I guess. Of course the docs I work with use a local and Tylenol. Research all you want the truth is boys don't remember and their pain tolerance is just fine. I wonder if you would be on such a nasty high horse if your husband had opted for the circ??? ________________________________________________________________________ Try Juno Platinum for Free! Guest guest
I do not understand this bit about boys not remembering. As if it is ok to do something, even if it is painful, because they will not remember. Regardless of how you feel about circumcision, this is a backwards point of the argument, which we would all do well to think on. Guest guest
We don't do circs at our hospital either, if the parents want the procedure, it is done on an office visit, which is fine with us. Lori PS....my boys are circ'd and that was our choice and "the practice" in the 80's. I am sure they would not have it done electively as adults. I worked on a surgical unit and saw a man who had to have a circ due to a medical problem and he wished he would have died instead, it was so painful. Guest guest
Who's on a "nasty high horse" or do you not like your point of view challenged? Such anger in your email...... Lumping in informed decisions with making people feel like crap isn't fair. I'm not sure what your technique is........ if my child decides to alter his body at age 18 via tattoo, piercing or plastic surgery then yes he can make his own decision but I CAN guarantee a circ won't take place due to hygiene issues. He knows his uncirc penis is NORMAL and that care of his penis is required just as care of his hair, body etc. My hospital does not offer this procedure. Appts have to be made at a clinic to have it done.......anyone else working at a facility like this? wrote: Most people have already made up their minds abouts circs when they come to the hospital so it is not my place to try to make them feel like crap for deciding to have their child circumcised. Guest guest
, My simple response to you will be my original post b/c this is my true thoughts on the subject : "Choosing to have your child circumcised is no crime and ones own choice either way should be respected. Guest guest
Just a perspective shifter.... For the supporters of circumcison, I wonder what you feel about female circumcison? If we can do it to boys, many would argue that we should be able to do this to girls. I have actually worked with women who have had this done in their native countries, and it is still being done to girls today. Would you say that these women should have a right to have this done to their baby girls here in the USA? Barbara
