Guest guest
i'm on my third batch and hopefully getting better at it. i have a question about size. my last brew was in one of those one gallon pickle jars with a 5 " diameter mouth. the scoby filled that diameter. now i'm using a 2 gallon bottle with a much bigger diameter maybe 7 or 9 " . my scooby seems bigger. will it grow to the size of the new bottle's diameter? Guest guest
I used the gallon pickle jars (and now a continous urn also)and my scobys are always the width of whatever container I am brewing it in. For scobys that I want to send out I let them fatten up then cut them smaller before I send them. The scoby in my continous brew urn is a monster lol. It will even assume the shape of the container it grows in. I have not only round scobys of varying diameters, but also one octagonal (8-sided) one and lots of large oval ones. They are SO adaptable!
