thats a great idea... I'll have to look into that. I've been using a

standard heating blanket to warm my Kombuchas; I fold it in thirds and wrap

it around all three containers I have. I agree that it does make a big

difference in activity, however my version is much more difficult to

maintain a steady temperature with... it fluctuates a great deal.

Thanks, this is exactly what I need.

" So I bought what I believe to be the best and cheapest heater for the size. I

found on a list somewhere that someone was using a waterbed heater under their

bottles and it worked really well. I found someone on Ebay selling a large

waterbed heater for $45, it's a thin mat that measures about 12 " x 24 " . So I

bought it and have been using it for about 1 week. The difference is astounding!

My cultures are much more active than before I started using the heater. "

Here's the link to the Ebay waterbed heater if anyone is interested in getting

one.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem & ih=020 & sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT\

& viewitem= & item=300063882710 & rd=1 & rd=1

It came in two days, but the seller and I are both in NYC.

As an update, the new KT I put on it two days ago already has a baby that is

over 1/16 " thick. Much faster production than just leaving them at room temp.
