I've been here about 2 weeks, and have really gotten a lot of info about raw milk, goat or cow, from this list. I live in Georgia, and we have a co-op sitiuation where we can get it. It is so good-tasting! Even my children love it. I have had the most fun making yogurt, kefir (with grains a nice lady gave me), and the Berry Smoothies from Jordan's book. I am on Day 37 of the 40 day Maker's Diet experience, and all I can say is...I'm never going back to the old Past. & Homog. dairy! Welcome, and enjoy--there are some great people on this list. Anita. Guest guest
Hi Joni,I glad you found this list too. And am sure you will find a lot of useable info. Bea New Intro. Hi, Everybody,My name is Joni, and I live in Sagamore Hills, Ohio, which is between Cleveland and Akron.I've always been curious about raw milk, but quite honestly don't know too much about it. I think it's because I never saw it in the health food stores, so I haven't had the opportunity to try it. After reading The Makers Diet, I'm even more gung-ho about becoming a raw dairy consumer. I have been health conscious as far back as I can remember and hold a special interest in nutrition for myself and my family. I even make and feed my four kitties a species appropriate diet. I also figured out on my own that my son has several food allergies, when all the doctors wanted to do was write prescription after prescription and never even suggested to me that he may have food allergies. He can't drink cow's milk, but can drink goat's milk. I've learned to work with spelt, make my own ghee from organic butter which he tolerates very well, and use many other substitutes for food items he has reactions to. It's all a learning process As far as eating raw dairy, I have recently tried raw goat's milk cheddar cheese which I thought was absolutely delicious, and I just purchased some Really Raw Honey which is so yummy I could very easily eat the entire jar in one sitting! Here in Ohio, it is my understanding that raw milk sales of any kind are illegal. I'm not a very political person so I really don't understand the ins and outs, but I guess I'm a little confused as to why we as consumers shouldn't be able to choose what we buy and consume. I am anxious to try some raw milk, but since I really don't know too much about it per se, I am a little apprehensive. I feel once I become more knowledgeable and can read about the experiences of others who are currently using it, I will in turn become more comfortable. I understand from my reading that the living enzymes and health benefits from it can't be beat, not to mention that people rave about the taste too! I'm so glad I found this list and am looking forward to learning as much as I can and communicating with a nice group of people. Thanks for having me.
