I have a question. Is it normal for a woman to begin bleeding heavily at about 7-8 centimeters? Is it normal for the blood to be bright red and clotted? I would estimate the amount I witnessed to be about 100-150 cc.

I wouldn't say it's normal to bleed heavily with clots before delivery but not unheard of. Maybe that placenta was trying to seperate a little early especially if it was a multip or prolonged labor.

Could the placenta also have been seperating early because of the unnatually strong contractions associated with induced labor?
