Hey Donna

Good luck for your surgery. I dont have two many tips..

My biggest discomfort was from trying to eat too soon (I swallowed a poached egg

as my first meal and regretted it immediatly); and not having enough support to

get me through the bad physical and emotional days. Be prepared to rest and

sleep a lot (upright). Sip..sip....sip water (stay hydrated) and do what the

doc tells you and you should be okay.

Email this group if you need any support at all..

All the best,

Kristy

Donna,

Congratulations on your revision. and I are revisions too, so we

know what you are going to experience. Don't be discouraged by the slower

weight loss or intimidated because some have lost a TON of weight while we

revisions lose a fraction of that. It's all good!

The " check-in " staff at hospital are really cool. They will make you feel so

comfortable. I bet you won't have to ask for the versed--they'll suggest it,

or in my case, they just told me they were going to give it to me, no

questions!

As for the recliner, that is a good thing to have, but not a necessity. Take

a lot of extra pillows and prop yourself up in the bed. That was what I

found most comfortable, any road. You'll be " in-and-out " so much that it

won't matter if you are in a recliner or the bed.

Food is another matter because it really is an individual preference. The

only thing I wanted was mashed potatoes and gravy from KFC. The little

individual serving size was enough for about 3 meals. I also age a couple

spoonfuls of yogurt. My good friend who had the surgery couldn't stand the

thought of either of those foods; all she ate was Jell-O for weeks. Just

play it by ear. You have a support person to run to the store for you, and

eat what you want as long as it's on the " acceptable food list. "

I wish you blessings, peace, and much success, my new sister; welcome to the

family!

Jim

Subject: count down begins!

Would still appreciate any last minute suggestions? Is it worth

renting the recliner for post op? What were some of the foods you

found tolerable at the hotel?

Huge Congrats Donna and Terri,

You will be on your way before you know it and helping newbies like

yourselves.

I personally loved my recliner. I got out of the bed for my 1st walk

and never got back in it. My DH slept in it or my mom. I even slept

in my recliner at home (not a bariatric one) for 2 months after my

surgery. As Jim said - it really is a personal preferance.

My 1st meal at the motel was egg flower soup, it tasted heavenly to

me. Then cheesy potato soup, yogurt, then pintos and cheese from

taco bell. Personal preferance - again.

I would not buy anything in advance because believe it or not, your

tastes change. Mine did from day to day. Much like being pregnant,

you will never know what you are going to crave.

My suggestion to you is to walk as soon as you can after surgery. A

very good friend of mine (Merry Christmas Nick! & !) told me the

sooner I walked the sooner I would feel better. And in my case it

was true. Sip sip sip that water. Keep hydrated. If it sounds icky

to you, try ice chips or ice water. I still to this day have to have

tons on ice in everything I drink.

I think my biggest fear was that something would happen to stop me

from having the surgery. I did get delayed 2 days, and when Dee told

me I cried. I knew then how badly I wanted this.

God Bless you both with wonderful losses and quick healing!

Yeah for you!! What a great Christmas present ot yourself.

I found the recliner a god-send. I don't even want to imagine

recoverey without it - although not everyone shares/shared my

affinity for the recliner.

Food wise - I LOVED scrambled eggs from Denny's - I could only eat 4-

5 bites but - yum! Still love eggs. The thought of yogurt turned my

stomach - almost 3 years later the thought of yogurt almost turns my

tummy!

Good for you on getting the verced - I should have had an on going IV

of the stuff - S-C-A-R-E-D-Y cat!!!

Donna,

I have sent one response, but Yahoo must have lost it or in a couple

hrs it will get on the board..lol

My prayers will be with you, you are in the greatest hands

ever, and just remember to sip, sip, walk and walk..As for the

recliner.I went for my first walk and then got into the chair,

if I had it to do over I would have gotten back in bed as I am

short and couldn't fit in the recliner very well.I love sitting

in them now.It was easier to get in and out of rather than

the bed,for me anyway..Know that we will be thinking of you

this comming Monday as with our prayers...I am a revision as

you know, and they [dr.k] expected me to lose around 100lbs,well

I have lost 1/2 of myself 167lbs so we know it can be done,as I

am the worse couch potato there is.Yep it is slow but it does

come off.

You will do great

God bless,

Pat

Best of everything on your surgery Donna! I found that egg drop

soup, eggs over easy, mashed potatoes and oatmeal went down pretty

easily at the hotelafter surgery. Also, sugar free popsicles. I

hated the recliner from the hospital. But, I couldn't possibly have

slept on the hotel bed so the recliner may be the lesser of two evils.

You're in my prayers!
