Guest guest
Dear fellow Colleagues, I have a new patient who is a 21 year old female and she suffers from a very rare condition called opsoclonus myoclonus syndrome which is a type of an autoimmune condition that usually occurs in children with neuroblastoma and is considered a paraneoplastic disorder. My patient lost her speech and mobility at 18 months old, and after being on steroidal therapy, she regained her mobility. She does suffer from some longterm cognitive, behavioural, and neuromuscular impairments. Academically, she is learning at her age level, but socially and behaviourally her mother thinks she is not at her level. Their major concerns are her tremors which she gets throughout her entire body. It seems to wax and wane, but it flares up and she cannot associate it with anything she's done. She also suffers from depression and anxiety and she's hoping naturopathic medicine can help to improve her functionality. She does have quite a lot of motor impairments due to the tremors. I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience with treating this condition. We just had one visit, and I started her on some of the BTGs. Any input would be great!
