Guest guest
Ooooo good question! I am very interested in everyone's responses! I just tell the mom's that it is related to the extreme bodily stress and changes that are occuring. I actually can never remember actually learning the physiology of the shakes, and phys. was a love of mine. I am curious what type of educational handout you are doing for the staff. Is it on various topics of L & D? I have seen the need for this in our unit also on some basic topics. It seems no matter how hard we try to have cohesive ed.; our pt.'s tell us they hear something different from all of us. I think it would be great to develop little 3x5 cheat cards with the basics written on them about VS during labor and during epidurals, breastfeeding, normal labs, things to check in the room before delivery, etc. Looking forward to everyone's thoughts! jenn mom to Zachariah 12/18/

It's actually a handout on just this one topic. But many of us on the unit are doing some type of staff education on different topics. It is part of our clinical ladder program. Guest guest
I don't know what causes it. But one of our new nurses took a holistic healing type course and she swears that massaging the soles of the feet makes it go away. Not sure if she's had success with it or not.
