We pasteurize for the goat kids. The ONLY reason is for CAE prevention. This is a disease that can effect goat and sheep, but NOT humans. I had an 8 month old goat kid with crippling arthritis from raw goat milk. So they get pasteurized for that reason only. Humans here drink raw milk.

I've read about that and that's why I was told that HEAT TREATING, not pasteurizing was the way to go. That way, you kill off what is bad, but keep what is good. I got this information from the Hoegger Goat Supply people.
