Guest guest
Hi , I love my scooter. Mine was also paid for by my extended medical as I am on long term disability. My back is fusing on it's own. I have AS and as far as I know surgery isn't performed unless it fuses really crooked. I was hoping that once it all fused I wouldn't have any more of that deep aching pain. But it has just been getting worse. I still sleep with an ice bag when it is really bad, and when I do fall asleep and the ice bag shifts,,,, I wake up to my hubby howling as he hands me back the ice bag.....LOL.... The codeine I have been taking is becoming less and less effective. What all has the pain clinic done that has helped? Hope you are having a good day. ~~~Faye~~~
Guest guest
.. What all has the pain clinic done that has helped? Well, let's see they gone in with so many different procedures inserting medications..I suspect steroids to the faucet joinst and the S/1 joint. Another time they did a caudle epidural series (if I spelled that right) where they went in from the lower end of the tailbone and injected stuff (my medical term lol) up in there and, just so happened to paralyze me from the waist down for three days..scared me #*%!$# but, least it stopped the pain. Was not suppose to happen...I just had too much scar tissue from all the surgical procedures the medication stayed in one spot..apparently too much for that one spot!! Then we worked with all kinds of medications..narcotics and nerve medications like Neurontin (sp?) etc. Took a long time of trial and error. Got to the SCS (spinal cord stimulator) or the insertion of a morphine pump....then my pain management doc. said let's try one more narcotic..the Methadone..BINGO! It really works the best for me with the least side effects. I don't get the roller coaster up and down pain levels. This stays pretty much even...another plus is the cost...very cheap!! I've also worked it up to going every three months to the pain clinic...started out on a weekly basis. I still at times will go get the ice especially for break through pain during the night...with narcotics everything is so regulated and all counted out...have to be careful not to use up my supply too fast.... Wishing you a good evining and a great day tomorrow... God Bless! K.
