My dd likes her eggnog to taste like it came from a carton. I just

throw and egg, milk, a bit of cream and some sucanat into a blender and

whir it up.

Other wise I make it the 'hard' way... whipping the egg white, whipping

the cream and whipping the milk/yolk/sugar and then fold it all

together.

My Eggnog Recipe

Put room temp milk in blender. Grate nutmeg over blender. Optionally

grate cinnamon over blender. Optionally add vanilla. Optionally add

honey. Optionally add cream. Optionally add whatever the heck else

you want because you are a free person and life doesn't come with a

book of rules. Blend. Add lots of egg yolks. Blend again briefly.

Sip.

I've never tried it with cream because I've never had any on hand when

I've made eggnog, so it's not very thick, but some people have said

they like the lighter consistency. It's so ridiculously delicious

that it doesn't feel like anything's missing to me.

I say " room temp " because that's how you can really perceive the great

flavor of milk. It has nothing to do specifically with eggnog. If

you want to be a vulgar anti-gourmet and use cold milk, noone will

stop you, but if you're not seeking refined aesthetic experiences with

food, then why bother trying to make something this delicious in the

first place? Why not just put all your food in a food processor, make

a human chow and hold your nose while you shovel it in your mouth as

fast as possible? Okay, rant over.

I say " sip " because all fine beverages should be sipped. If you want

to gulp your eggnog or milk or whatever... uh, nevermind--see above.

Ha ha.... I like your rants! They sound like mine. Exaggeration does have

its usefulness in sarcastic humour. :)

Mike, you're a kick! Actually, more than several nights a week my

sipping beverage at bedtime is one egg yolk, a little dribble of

vanilla, 3 drops of stevia, a drizzle of agave nectar (anyone know if

this is really an OK sweetener?) and drum roll please :) kefir!

Stirred up, it has that wonderful thick rich consistancy of eggnog

and the taste is there too if you add some nutmeg. Then I sleep like

a baby! I call it my beauty drink. I've added about an oz raw cream

when I've extra on hand, just for the extravagance of it all!

Don't know if it would pass very well for more of a traditional

commercial tasting eggnog - but I don't care, it's decadent in my

book!
